The ending for the movie was practacly made for a sequel and plus it was pretty good.

That's a good question. Of all the Pixar films, it seems the most natural choice for future installments. The characters would have a perfect reason for going on a new adventure: they're superheroes with new villians to fight. By contrast, what the heck could the new Cars film be about? The tragedy of planned obsolescence? A hybrid coming to terms with its mixed parentage (Mommy was a Volt and Daddy was a Hummer)? The first Cars film was boring enough IMO; I can't see myself paying to endure a second. I hear that the reason a Cars sequel is in the pipeline is because of its lucrative toy sales. What a crummy reason for a sequel!

It's not crummy, it's called a logical business decision.

Because Brad Bird is extremely busy with other projects and he will only allow a sequel if he can devote all his time to it and make it the best it can possibly be.

Let me put it this way for you,you only need to make a sequel if you make it for the right reasons.Otherwise you're going to screw up a classic.Very few sequels (IMO) are made based on the pure desire to see a great follow-up.If someone's sole purpose in making a sequel is just to make extra money, they should not ever think of making a sequel.Besides,Brad's on to other things so I do share your empathy.

    I tend to agree with this,but it's hard sometimes.That's why there's fanfiction.

    Cosplay! :anime:

I do a little of both, acutally. But I don't wear costumes or stuff like that.

Also while I like the Incredibles a lot,I don't believe it is Mr. Bird's best work.

I would ONLY want a sequel to The Incredibles if the script was as solid as the 1st movie's script was. If The Incredibles 2 would just be The Return of Syndrome or Meet the Super In-Laws or Meet the Super Pets, then I would pass on it. I would rather have no sequel than a cliched direct-to-video cheapquel, but that's just me.

I thought I was the only one who felt that way.

The Incredibles was a such an amazing film that to me it's almost like any follow-up to it would be disappointing. Part of me hopes that Brad Bird will reach the same decision that Steven Spielberg did with the idea of an E.T. sequel and simply choose to let the the original stand on its' own.

Anyways, there's an Incredibles comic book series now, so fans hungry for a sequel can satisfy themselves with that.

The Incredibles don't need a sequel. Also making a sequel to Cars just to sell more merchandise is so unlike Pixar.

That was what fueled Toy Story 2 and the upcoming Toy Story 3.

I agree with you. The Incredibles was such a great movie and definitely Pixar's best one yet. While I wouldn't mind a sequel at all, I wouldn't want one that felt weaker than the original film. I think that I've heard Brad Bird wanting to make a sequel, but he wouldn't do it until he gets an idea that's better than the first, which would honestly be hard to do. Besides that, he has a lot of other projects to work on. If The Incredibles never does get a sequel, that would be fine with me too since it would be better to have it as a stand-alone film than one with a weak sequel.

Exactly. Just because Pixar usually has at least well-written stories in their movies doesn't mean that they don't want to sell merchandise for said movies. Out of all of their films, I think that the Toy Story movies and Cars are the only ones that still sell well enough. I also agree that making another movie to sell more merchanise is a smart and logical business choice. Besides that, since I haven't heard too many good reviews about Cars, a sequel would most likely be better than the first one.

To me, as long as it 10 times better executed than that video game that takes place minutes after the first film, I am opened to a sequel. Though that does bring up, what kind of villain, threat, and life lesson can be learned from this adventure.

One thing I've always wondered about the Icrediverse, we know all the superheroes were forced into retirement. But whatever happened to all the supervillains? Were they rounded up and tossed in super prison? Did they go into business, become celebrity chefs? That might be an interesting angle to explore in a sequel.

The way this thread was titled, I thought the OP was going to give reasons why they had no need for a sequel, but I digress.
