Any D*sney movies without sequels yet?

    Like This Thread!
Today I went to the video store and saw a poster for "Cinderella 2" from our old pals D*sney, coming direct to video Febuary 26'th. This is 11 days after their sequel to Peter Pan comes to theaters. I suppose it was inevitable that D*sney would finally have two sequels to old movies in one month, and the DTV sequels to Dumbo and the Hunchback of Notre Dame will be coming by the end of the year. And who here can guarantee that direct to video sequels to "The Emperor's New Groove" "Atlantis" "Snow White" or any other animanted films without a sequel aren't being planned right now or will be planned soon? Does anyone know what films they haven't made sequels to yet other than those I mentioned, perhaps we can make a checkoff list until there's none left, and I bet there will be soon.

I don't recall a "Great Mouse Detective 2". I was going to say that I haven't heard of a "Mulan 2", but, unfortunately....

*sigh* Most of these D*sney movies come from stories, fairy tales, fables, or legends. Other than "Pocahontas 2", how many of these came from myths or tales (or perhaps real occurances)?
And besides, most people look at this type of topic unrealistically. They are all under the apparent misconception tha--oh, wait. Is my post over? Ah, okay.

If they make a sequel to "The Emperor's New Groove" (arguably one of Disney's best films), I will have no choice but to move Heaven and Earth and send the parties responsible straight to Hell.

Ha, I was wondering this question myself! I thought things weren't going to get any worse than Peter Pan II, but then I heard Cinderella and Snow White II were on their way. It's just too sad to comprehend. It's been said before, that since Emperor's New Groove and Atlantis weren't big hits, that Disney won't bother making sequels to them. Maybe in the end, being a bomb is a good thing.

Hmm...well, "The Emperor's New Groove" is actually AFAIK an original story... along with (maybe) "The Fox and the Hound"? Also "Oliver and Company"...

Re: films sequels won't be made for: I can guarantee "Song of the South" won't be made into a sequel (or apparently even see a DVD/never video release, vs. the one release I saw for it at a video store that was apparently done back in the early 80's, in home video's infancy...and thus, is probably almost impossible to find in any decent condition/find period. Not that I have much interest in doing so, despite seeing the film as a kid....).

'Oliver & Co.' was a variation on Dickens' 'Oliver Twist,' and 'The Fox and the Hound' was based on some children's book, iirc.

I think 'The Lion King' and 'The Emperor's New Groove' are the only totally original D*sney animated "classics."

Black Cauldron will probably be safe...I think that Pinocchio is free from the curse so far, ditto for Alice In Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty (correct me if I'm wrong). And it would be hard to do sequels of films like "Melody Time" and "Fun and Fancy Free"

Have they/are they doing one for Jungle Book or Bambi?

I believe Atlantis was original (unless you believe the rumors of the ripoff of the anime Nadia), but I don't think that it did well enough to be considered a "classic"

I had actually heard somewhere that there was thoughts thrown around about a Sleeping Beauty 2, but wasnt sure of it.

I hope not, but knowing "Disney, The Liscense Cash Cow" there probably will be....

There's not an official sequel to Jungle Book, though D*sney has strip-mined that one pretty well too, what with Tale Spin and Jungle Babies (think a miniaturized Jungle Book sans Mowgli).

Now the DUCK TALES movie - I wouldnt mind a sequel to AT ALL. The more duck Tales, the better IMO

Besides - the movie DID leave an open ending...we never found out what became of the Genie...

Scrooge McDucks running ab orphanage now what with Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby, Gene, Bubba, and an always visiting Doofus

And I did like Rescuers Down Under, which is probably because The Rescuers is one of the few Disney movies that can easily be sequel-ized. I wouldn't mind another Rescuers sequel if it was done well. Just have the two mice go on another one of their adventures, and make it an original one. Great Mouse Detective could probably work that way too. But knowing Disney, they'd run sequels of those into the ground, and it wouldn't be long before they just followed a predictable formula.

Speaking of ducks, I was holding out hope for a Darkwing Duck movie, but no such luck. The Masked Mallard must be magnified onto a massive marquee!

Actually Disney has a sequel for Atlantis coming out sometime this year - it's going to be the first three eps. to the canned TV show that looked to be awesome.

]I don't care if they make a sequel to Atlantis, as long as they stay off the older (and in many cases better) films.

I just did. Why? Because it's there.

No, there have been sequels to Pinocchio. I remember Pinocchio & the Emperor of the Night, with the tag line, "and that's, no lie!" I also remember seeing the start of a sequel to Pinnochio on tv once; he was real & singing as he was walking along some path, all happy-like. I don't remember which were of the Mouse & which weren't thought.

Why can't disney just do something creative rather than just try to capatalize on their old successes. It isn't that hard.
