I don't think Kim Possible should be renewed

    Like This Thread!
I know everyone in this board would like to see KP be renewed. However, I don't see it that way. KP has gone through a very long run and the I feel the time is up. Sure Disney has made a whole lot of money, but there comes a time when the bird has to leave the nest we can't always go enjoy the show all the time. Some shows truely are gold the couple of seasons, but then go into worthless copper. Then there are some that become gold through time. The actors, actresses, and animators need to go on to other developments and do important stuff. I really enjoy a show the most when it is at its top not when the show is being put nails in the coffin. They have made 65 great, wonderful, super, spectatular, awsome, azaming stuff I can think in my head episodes. They went through as sophmores, juniors, and seniors and that's what the target was to look for Disney. There's no need to continue as college kids because that is not the demographics Disney is targeting for. It has been a great run, but all good things must come to an end.

Personally I think that since (Have you loooked at the So the Drama ratings?) Kim Possible is fairly popular, funny, and an all around great show that it should be renewed. It helped me get through a lot, once I watched Kim Possible it was the one time of day where nothing else mattered. That's why I love Kim Possible. To quote Ron I just *ahem* got soming in my eye, i'll talk to you later.

True Fan of sponge, but then think about this whom are you hurting here.. The company For ending it prematurely? Or the fans for doing the same thing.. after all I wrote us a philosophical approach to this with the so the Drama Feedback. and in fact it speaks volumes..

First off How many fans does it take to a company to hurt when they do cancel a show after just this short of a run.. I can tell you that out of 36 shows (up to this point less then 20 % of the shows at Disney Have ever Gotten Half a fair shake .. Talespin Never got it.. Neither Did Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers.. And Gummi Bears? Puh-lease...

After all today's shows are more about telling a good story and character development then say a show that just puts out episode after episode of mindless drivel. (or should I invoke the gods of Brandy And Mr. Whiskers? or maybe I should invoke the Name of Spongebob! )
Frankly That's what fans really want. they want a good story to be told. in some cases some good stories turn out to be great ones. They (The Fans) don't want Mindless animation or bad stories either.

After all Telelvison is just another media form , and in fact you've already shortchanged yourself with this kind of logic.. in fact stories do need to be told even on the small screen, and in fact when you short change the public one they'll ignore it.. but 30 or more times? Well that's when they get tired and speak up. They will literally revolt. and They'll do it other ways.. by writing unauthorized Fanfictions that aren't even canon to the show or it's philosophy, and they will explore new ways to subvert the true story idea..and yes, it then just degrades the show further not knowing really which truth is the absolute truth. After all I agree shows do need to end eventually but in this case this is much like Harry Potter's 7 book series.. or even CS Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series. Not just some simple one shot idea 32 or 64 page comic book. after all the art of story telling is in such sad shape today. and it's showing itself in the half written ideas and poorly executed shows that most kids watch today. and do they eat it up? Probably not. After all Toilet humor, and gross jokes don't sell anything.. Good storytelling does.

After all if you collect comics and you follow them they too tell a story.. and yes even those do come to an end..

but what happens when you really leave a story unfinished? Wondering what is supposed to happen next? In fact lets go back to the 35 shows that have preceded this one. have you at anytime felt that the show ended at a point that was justifiably sound?

Gargoyles fans can absolutely say no.. Darkwing duck Fans. the same.. and the irony of it all is that they really haven't explored all the Possiblitles yet.. after all Like I said, I put one thing into the Post for So the Drama. and that sure there is at least one chapter of a story done. but what about Chapter 2? I put in the question that is perhaps first and foremost on everyones mind..

Is there anything more we can do with this story?. If the fans answer yes, then I say do it prove that this is not a fluke. If they say no, then then yes let it die here.. and now.. after all the fans do have a say in this matter. Whether they like it or not. After all I know that the romantics who helped drive this show if they said no right now would in effect have shortchanged them selves, whether they like the show or not. after all you know that Robin 2 of Batman fame got killed off in the comic books by just something like 300 votes .. and yet.. look.. they brought him back yet agian. Just because the fans protested the vote.

so I say if you want to end it.. don't watch.. after all like I said, you want to go buy a comic book rather then a novel? That's fine with me too. Frankly I would rather read all seven CS Lewis novels or watch a good series. then say to have it end after just 3 pages. or 3 episodes Like Team Atlantis. it depends on whether you are looking at the small or large picture thinking inside or outside the box. that's the difference really between making a good story epic, or a bad story die. after all let the fans have a say in this. don't just say that it should end . Just because. after all The Next 65 episodes could be better then the last 65. you never know.

I think I've said my fill here, you can really argue all you want. but then I pity you when you explain to your kids 20 years from now why you commented the way you did. because when they look at this argument you can see that in the end even future generations want a great novel.. then just some dime store comic book.

I think here Kimpossible1fan you and i can agree upon.. after all think I think you are a lot like me.. Logical and common sense.. Frankly that 's why I say I enjoy fans who think outside the box like i do. (After all I wasn't being against the romance angle of the story, rather eventually it was bound to happen. But Like I said, letting the fans have a say in this matter tells me one thing. by voicing here what you felt, it seems you want a novel..Not a dime store Comic book.

Though you're right in saying practically everyone on this board is for KP being renewed, you do bring up a very good point.

Do we continue to plead to bring KP back with the outside chance that something happens that makes Season 4 a total letdown, and it turn, sours the memory? Whether it be maybe the best writers have moved on to other shows, a VA or two decides not to return, or, God forbid, Mark and/or Bob decide to put their attention on a new project.

    Things to consider:
    - Some of KP's writers have already moved on to do work for 'American Dragon: Jake Long,' the official replacement series to KP.
    - Christy Carlson Romano (Kim) is still in college and may be moving onto other projects, Kirsten Storms (Bonnie) just joined the cast of a soap opera, and Raven (Monique) may be too focused on her signing career and her own Disney Channel show. That's three VAs to have concern about.

Let me give a couple of concrete examples on what happens with shows that go on hiatus and/or undergo cast and/or crew changes:
    - Dexter's Laboratory: Creator Genndy Tartakovsky moved on to 'Samurai Jack' after the series' original end (Season 2), Dexter got a new VA. Turned out alright, but nowhere as funny as it was before the change.
    - Powerpuff Girls: Creator Craig McCracken moved on to 'Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends' after completing Season 4 and the movie. Show degenerated into lots of 4th-wall breaking and became a pain for many diehard fans to watch.
    - Totally Spies: Alex and Jerry both got new VAs for Season 3. The new Alex has been jittery at times, but the show's practically intact.
    - Gargoyles: Lead writer Greg Wiseman and most of the staff replaced after Season 2. Season 3 practically bombed on Saturday mornings.

In my opinion, the sooner KP is brought back, the better chance that the entire cast and crew will be willing to stay onboard and work for Season 4. And that means a better chance we won't have to worry about senseless plots that go nowhere (fondly reminded of a selected few Season 2 episodes).

But yeah, long story short, don't bring back KP back if it'll result in the show becoming a former shell of itself.

Again another valid Point Freedom Fighter, after all some of us think with Open minds and some with minds that are just focused here..

Now I'm just saying that if they did decide to terminate that this point well it's no point in some of the fans complaining.. And before Fan Of Sponge Comes back and says that I'm a Hypocrite about this.. My feelings on this are perhaps some of the most open minded of all. After all if you ever read the Philosophical Tribute I offered.. I Gave fans a totally Free Choice.. They could do it themselves and write a really good series of Stories, or they could have Disney do it.. In short the fans can do it one of two ways..(and if I know the fans, rather then Writing it themselves they just might say..Hey, we can't do this. we don't know what they other fans are thinking so in the end they still would need to go back to The part about having Disney do it, or not at all..

so really you have 3 choices:
    1. Tell Disney you want New stories
    2. Do it your self and co-oridnate with other fans to create a concise story.
    3. Do Nothing and leave it here..and never find out or decide what really happens.

    that's bascially it.

    ??Should KP be renewed?

If KP was to be renewed, It'll be without the original voices at least KP, Ron and Bonnie. Romano won't be back, what's his face probably won't and Kirsten Storms is going to be a Soap Opera actress with General Hospital which is a disappointing move. Knowing Disney though, KP is finished I'm afraid.
Of course, I would love to see more episodes.

By More,Pathfinder1011, you mean New.. Not just re-runs of the same old shows. cause when People say I want more.. The company Interpets it as.. Run the same old shows over and over again until fans get tired..

so in the end you do get More (of the same old shows) but you don't get New ones. To quote Kim: There's A fine line between the two..

When I saw the title of this thread.......I about fell out of my chair!!

I could give you a million reasons why your logic here is misdirected...but I just want to say........what is the harm in letting a show run out on its own, without restrictions. 65 is hardly what I would call a good run (120-150....thats a good run) If the writers and producers and creators have more ideas then...WHY THE HECK NOT?!

And indeed..if the fans want to see more, ratings are still high, merchandise sales are still high....THEN WHY THE HECK NOT?! Shouldnt they be allowed to get more eps...for ANY show? Sure I dont like The Simpsons and it should have been drug into the street and shot long ago...but if the fans want more and producers and writers have more ideas........then they should be allowed to continue.

I'm against such a limited run because I believe it stiffles creativity...and as an artist myself.......I certainly wouldnt want an outside source telling me when its time to stop creating. I'll stop creating when IM ready to stop!

I agree.. Limiting Creativity In telling a story is really a bad idea.. cause sure you get a set limite of episodes but it's like a one shot Comic.. When you buy a one shot Comic.. you are only getting One issue.. which is 64 pages long.. at the end.. you go.. Meh, I wish they had done new ideas with this.. and then what do you do? YOu just toss the comic away.. It's what is called "Throwaway Philosophy.. Imagine all those Collectors of Detective Comics #1 who thought the first issue would bomb.. and what happened? See those lucky Few who kept those ideas.. and let the creativty flow. the in the end are the rich ones indeed.

And how does it relate? Well easy.. if a show succeeds it should succeed on it's own merits. Kim's proven that.. that's a given but again I stress those three choices I put up earlier..

    These are...

    1. Tell Disney you want New stories dealing with the show
    2. failing 1, Do it your self and co-oridnate with other fans to create a concise storyline.
    3. and failing both 1 and 2, Do Nothing and leave it here..and never find out or decide what really happens.

after all the fans have to decide.. and the quicker they decide the quicker one of the first two options can occurr.. of course if they sit on the fence too long.. Option 3 will be there final choice..after all there are no right nor wrong answers here.. Only choices.

You all make valid points, no, wait...

Renewing the show would kill the entire purpose of So The Drama, now wouldn't it?

I agree with Fan of Sponge on this. If something is good-- it's better that it stay good and end good rather than be drawn out and become something old, stale, and unliked.

I could give you a million reasons why your logic here is misdirected
I don't believe Fan Of Sponge's logic is misdirected. It's valid, and there's no reason why an opinion different than your own should be called misdirected.

Fan of the Sponge has a really valid point. Sure the show "could" technically be renewd but look at history. How many shows have actually been better after the two main charecters got together? I mean there is a high probaility of the show jumping the shark if they went on. "So the drama" was a really good capper to the series, and I personally would be happy with it being the end of the show (maybe the occasional new movie might be okay).

Kim Possible has always been hit and miss with me, so I'm slightly less biased to it, however, I agree that it's proven popular enough in ratings and merchandising to justify one other additional season, I can't guarantee, indeed, nobody, can guarantee if it will maintain a degree of quality, but it deserves a chance to try.

Fans have no saying on what should and what shouldn't be renewed, unfortunately.

Funny you mention The Simpsons because the mayority think the show should end already. The Simpsons bring HUGE ratings, though, and the instant they end FOX's ratings will drop significantly, this is FACT.

It doesn't really. By giving the artists certain limits sometimes they work better because they make better efforts. Kim Possible is one of the many living proofs.

They all eventually do. If there were making KP episodes with absolutely no boundaries they will eventually reach a point in which everyone will be tired of the show and want it cancelled. Are you saying you would prefer that? An era where KP writers are recycling stories from old episodes and all the talkbacks get grades between C- and F? That's how The Simpsons are right now, and 10 years ago people were saying the show would never get old.

Everyone can have opinions, but what I don't like to see is people jumping all over others because of their opinions--- and doing so with such an attitude as you do.

It's rude. I suggest you tone that attitude down. Not everyone wants to see the show continued.

I don't think that anyone is suggesting that Kim Possible WILL become "old and stale" if the show continues. If the show has to be cancelled at all, I'd prefer to see it happen at a high point in the show rather than watch the calibre of the show's storylines, voice acting, animation, etc. go downhill.

Kim Possible is very popular and watched a lot as proved by everyone else.
I don't really think it's going to get cancelled anytime soon.
    KP rocks!

    ...

Gotta agree. Disney gave Kim Possible a very respectable 65 episode run (name ten American shows that got that on Kids' WB and 4KidsTV/Fox Box from the last five years), and it'd be best to end on a high note. You wouldn't exactly want a calamity the size of "The New Adventures of He-Man" or "G.I. Joe: Dragonfly" (or "Dragonfire", whatever it was), would you? Kim and Ron are sent to an alternate reality where they're both superheroes (Razor Ron and Slim Kim, a la the Loonatics) where they must call upon the power of Battle Boosters...

    ...

Hey, I wouldn't put it past Disney.

Allowing this series to end allows Disney to put money towards other, potentially greater series. Imagine if the budget that could have gone to two seasons of Kim could be forwarded to preproduction of and a whole production of a season of a new Gargoyles spinoff headed by Greg Weisman?

I may have loved Jackie Chan Adventures (one of my top five American animation action series, easily), and it got to the 80s. Am I sad it's over? Yes. Yet, I hold out hope Sony might throw something together as good as, say, X-Men: Evolution.

    EDIT:

And since I'm legally bound to reply to this with a Toonami reference...

Flashback to Toonami's Total Immersion Event of 2002 (at least, I think it was 2002; I'm sure Willie C. or Duke'll fix the fact). All year, we had be hearing that we'd get another CG adventure of TOM and Sara. Given the degrading quality of the TIEs (Intruder rocked, Lockdown was okay, Trapped In Hyperspace was lame), we had hopes that Williams Street would at least try something intriguing with the plot, after all our complaining.

    That TIE was cancelled.

Instead, CN pooled it's money into creating an animated series made in Japan FOR America. We got the Immortal Grand Prix (IGPX).

    And it ROCKED.

And this year, we're getting a full 26-episode series, being the first series made in Japan for Toonami. With an all-star cast of voices. With a world-renown animation studio.

Yet, if we had that CG TIE, ya know, we might know a little more about the Absolution Mark I, or TOM2, but we probably wouldn't have gotten such a groundbreaking series headed our way.

which do you want? A novel or a dime store Comic book?
Um, honestly? I'd rather have a comic book. The fact that I pick up probably 8-14 a week and haven't read a novel since getting halfway through Game Over back in High School might signify that..

I prefered "New Adventures of He-Man" over the hit-and-miss revival any day, naturally, it was a calamity in many other ways, offending certain purists and especially flopping with the toyline
