This is the official talkback thread for episode2 #22-25, the "City of Stone" story arc airing on ABC Family's Jetix block weekend mornings. Is there a more re-played scene in Gargoyles than Goliath & Demona's "You and I are one, now and forever" scene?

A great first part that really makes you want to see the rest of the arc. Brooklyn's "Don't gush, it's embarrasing" line is a classic. There is also an exchange between

that hints at the future.

It was cool seeing young MacBeth. This is the arc that shows how he became the man he is today.

A classic that hasn't aged a day. Do I even need to say it? *****.

These are the episodes where the Gargoyles series as a whole goes from a good series to a GREAT series.

This one deserves 5 stars.

Very interesting arc so far, I like where it's headed. Nice cliffhanger at the end as well. Although some of the flashbacks seemed kind of repeated (like the one with Golith going off and leaving Demona at the castle), I liked all of the others. This arc looks pretty cool and I can't wait to see the other parts of it.

That's the only repeated flashback in the arc, and it's nessecary to show how seasmlessly the history on this series flows together. You're going to love this.

Anyone else notice that Demona begins to age the moment Goliath leaves to head off the Vikings?

I remembered this episode as being pretty intense, with Demona picking up part of a gargoyle's face, Demona slashing and macing humans, and Fox and Xanatos' plummet to certain doom. This episode also has a lot of "what if" moments for me, like what if Demona told Othello and Desdemona her plans, or what if she hadn't run from Goliath when she saw him return. Of course the truth about her role in the destruction would destroy her if she admitted it, so she blames the humans. Her development was handled with care; even after the slaughter of her clan she wasn't twisted enough to let Gruoch and Macbeth die. Speaking of Macbeth, it's nice to see his backstory again, since it's good stuff. And the Three Sisters give me Sandman flashbacks.

Magnificent. It was immensely ballsy to dedicate three episodes of the series to an extended flashback that answers the question "why do two villains in this series despise each other?", although with

the introduction of the Weird Sisters, the break in the Xanatos-Demona alliance, and more begrudging respect shown between Goliath and Xanatos

the flashbacks aren't the only reasons to watch this episode.)

I just wish the same people who animated "The Mirror" had handled everything in this one too.

I recognize Wang, I think it is. They really stepped up to the plate on this one. They are no Jade, but this arc is their finest hour.

Oh, and I never liked MacBeth (Oh come on, you all know it's Maccie) as the Hunter...

Y'know, people need to stop falling off of cliffs, it's bad for their health.

I never noticed this before, but the three Gargoyles left w/Demona resemble Broadway, Lexington, and Brooklyn.

We're only at the third part of the series, and all three episodes are at the 5-star mark. This is great stuff. Anyone who doubted the greatness of Gargoyles should be convinced now.

Well also don't miss High Noon next Saturday. High Noon could be considered and Epilogue to City of Stone and it ia good in it's own right.

And if you are wondering all three of the Weird Sisters were by Kath Soucie (Futurama, Cubert Farnsworth, Michelle and Additonal Voices; Swat Cats and many more cartoons) voices Weird Sisters; she also voices Princess Katherine and Maggie Reed.

In a way, Gargoyles Macbeth is a more faithful historical interpretation to the 11th century Scottish King than Shakespeare's version (if you take away the witches, the Gargoyles, the Hunter, the immortality link with Demona, etc.). The real Macbeth and his wife were probably not the villains that popular culture portrayed them as (King Duncan was killed in a duel with Macbeth, not murdered).

BTW, was there ever a scene in the series where Mac comments about Shakespeare?
