This is the episode where it is Halloween and Elisa dresses up as Belle from Dinsey's Beauty and the Beast. This is not really a spoiler, but just something to be on the look out for in the episode.

Yeah Paul, but it's funny that

    Spoiler:
They show Eliza in a The famous Belle Yellow Dance Costume, and it's even weirder that she has to ditch the lower half of the gown just so that she can have Fox protect her modesty after she reverts back to Human form.

Seems Kind of Odd that Disney would do that....

Also Did Xanatos Actually Have a Plan E? or was he really making it up on the Fly?

I loved the Beauty and the Beast moment that Elisa and Goliath had. They even used a part of the dance. Very nice.

The writers threw in a bit of medical science to keep things interesting. Next time you think about becoming a werewolf, be sure to think about all that metabolism stuff.

We also got to see Goliath play a little psychological tennis with Xanatos. He had to let down his guard to get the help he wanted. Xanatos didn't like that at all.

There was one thing that didn't feel right about this episode. Elisa had a line, "... that jewel around her neck". How did she know that it was female? It wasn't really obvious. I mean, the beast lacked the proper... erm... plumbing to be male, of course. But that's usually the case in animation for those monsters.

Yeah, you will notice ABCFamily's feed just went kaput about 3 minutes into this one. Only thing you missed was Fox going beast.

I loved this exchange between Goliath and Xanatos:

Xanatos: So now you know my weakness.

Goliath: Only you would consider love a weakness.

Awesome! The back and forth between Goliath, Xanatos, and Elisa was great. It was obvious Mr. X was going frantic and Goliath and Elisa figuring out his manipulations right away put his plans into jeopardy real quick. There were so many great lines in this episode. The dialogue in Gargoyles has always been sophisticated for a kids' cartoon but here it was just delicious.

I loved the wistful look Owen gets in this episode when he sees Xanatos carry Fox home. "I think they're right sir, you've never looked so heroic." Any other show would've turned it into a Smithers-type gay joke but this was just perfect.

I liked how Goliath and Xanatos were able to form a truce in this episode which informs their relationship from now on. ("City of Stone" is a great example.)

The animation in this episode was just beautiful. I actually watched it on one of my tapes so the ABC Family feed didn't disrupt my viewing. It's a shame to hear that Fox's transformation was left out. That was one of the most beautiful pieces of animation of the entire series.

I wasn't only a fan of this episode because it set up the Eye of Odin. This episode was pretty much flawless with the dialogue and story and animation. I'm taking a half star off because I can't give EVERY episode five stars. I compare series episodes to the same series so it's more fair. For instance a five star episode of, say Ninja Turtles would be worth a three star episode of Gargoyles. That's the best way to grade something. So: ****1/2.

Okay, they did show the Halloween transformation, when Fox was in the coat, but they went black between that and right about Xanatos gave Fox the Eye of Oden 3 minutes before. That is not the worst place it could of cut out.

Actually Space Lion, Elisa Didn't Really know who it was until the beginning of Act 3, but I have a Feeling (being that Eliza Maza is an NYPD Detective), that she figured it out from the very beginning (when in Act 1 we see her confronting Fox (In werewolf form) for the First time. (the Tattoo on Fox's Right eye was the Giveaway, but Eliza was probably thinking, Nah Can't Be Fox! Maybe it's one of her animals....but it wasn't until Xanatos told her and Goliath that it was Fox that the pieces of this Puzzle fell into place..

of course Did anyone notice Owen at the end, where Xantaos was Saying, Yes, Let's Go home.. that you noticed him crack a smile and the way the moonlight hit Owen you got an inkling that.....

    Spoiler:
Owen and Puck are the same person!

pretty coincidental don't you think? Also it''s still surprising that Elisa had a rather interesting Micro Miniskirt on under that gown..(Makes you wonder how Greg Weisman got THAT by the Disney censors! But all in all another Kick butt Episode that makes my top 10 list of Best Gargoyles episodes (some of them I won't reveal until later in the series..) but this one is 4 and 7/8's stars out of Five as well..

and another thing about the lower half of her dress.. did she ever get it back?. I gotta admit, even I'd feel uncomfortable going around in a half-dress and mini-skirt..

even after I'd seen this episode. I never looked at Belle the same way again

and there Were-fox noises make your hair-stand on end

The break in the feed was annoying, but I still thought this was a really good episode. If made Xanatos look more human then he does in other episodes. Now I want to see what happens to him and Fox later in the series even more...
The Halloween scene was very...different. Interesting costume choice for Elisa.
    Anyway, a very neato episode.

Funniest Scene in Eye of the Beholder...and what does it have to do with Cows?

Alright folks I think the Funniest Scene in Eye of the Beholder is the line that comes out of Broadway...but I bet you are wondering where they got that One scene for Maggie (in Home on the Range)? Well I say this is the scene...

Lexington: So Broadway, how's the Hotdog?

    (LOUD BELCH!)

Broadway: It Doesn't get any better then this!

At least I wasn't the only one who lost several minutes of this episode. I don't feel so bad now. And as it was said before, it could've cut in a worse place.

IIRC back then Disney didn't have censors (in fact they may not have them now). They had a BS & P department, and a fairly sensible one at that, certainly Greg has always spoken well of them in ASK GREG.

Moon of the Wolf, eat your heart out.

No. Seriously. It's Halloweentime. Go nuts.

    Please?

Oh, well, worth a shot. Anyway, this just may be my favorite episode yet, up there with The Mirror and Metamorphasis. I was actually somewhat surprised how Xanatos seemed genuinely caught off-guard by Fox's transformation - for most of that scene, I thought he was faking it as usual.

And we finally get to see that fight from the intro. Sweet action. I was a tad disappointed with Fox's performance, but it beats Reawakening. On that note, I doubt this was such (I've made a point of not looking at episode listings anymore), but this had at least a bit of a finale-ish feel to it. Anyone else get that?

(Well, it was worth a go.)
