It was a time of darkness, it was a world of fear, it was the age of Garogyles. Toon Zone's number three animated show of all time returns to a cable network you actually recieve. This is the official talkback thread for episode #10, "The Edge," airing on ABC Family's Jetix block Sunday March 28th at 11:30 AM Eastern. Defend the night, watch this morning and comment on this episode.
Sorry folks, but you don't get to hear U2 in this episode. You will in "The Batman" though. Anyway, we finally get a Hudson episode (if I remember correctly). Can Cosgrove fight with the best of them? Tune in to find out. Jalapeņa! ABC Family Jetix.
Spoilers: If the episode has already aired on ABC Family Jetix you do not need to worry about using spoiler tags. If you must comment on episodes that have not yet aired on ABC Family Jetix please use spoiler tags due to the number of people who have not seen the series. Thank you!

No, i believe that one was called "Long Way to Morning" or something along those lines. And Demona poisons Elisa (well not really, but she thinks she does), she only injures Goliath. I believe "The Edge" features the return of the Steel Clan.Originally Posted by Duke
Yay. First speaking appearence of Matt Bluestone. Matt's fun to watch.
OK, you're right. The first appearence of Xanatos's Battle Suit. Much better looking than the toy version.Originally Posted by BlackoutCreature
Hehe, notice that when Elisa & Matt were driving away from Xantos's building, they just repeated the footage from before, so Elisa was driving towards Xanatos's building a second time...

I've always thought Xanatos was a great villian because even when he appears to be defeated he always seems to be exactly where he wanted to be by pulling off some small measure of victory. I doubt he would've fired Owen if he let him win in judo though. (Longtime Gargoyles fans know why.) Xanatos just doesn't seem like an empty threat guy. Either way the animation was fluid and beautiful. This is a really good chapter in the Gargoyles saga. ****.

That's what I was thinking when I started this thread, but it turns out I was wrong. Another good episode though!Originally Posted by Duke
I noticed the animation got a lot smoother in this episode than in the previous ones. I hope this continues.. in other episodes it seemed to jump around a lot and got rather distracting.
Like this Bluestone guy, liked Xanatos and Owen at the beginning ("Would you wish I let you beat me?", "I'd fire you if you did."). Entertaining, but I'm guessing this is as "filler" as Gargoyles gets?

You'll be surprised how much little things from episodes like this come into play in the future. There was quite a bit more character development in this episode as well as new character introduction and don't think that's the last time you will see Xanatos' battle suit...
With regards to the battle suit... Xanatos must read a lot of Iron Man (Faulty [Either alcoholic or apparently power-mad] hero/villain with craploads of money to spend on a personal exo-armor?). Kinda lost it's coolness that it didn't have a special helmet or anything.

The head piece will come into play in a later episode.
Yes, but in this episode, it just seems... lame... for Xanatos helmet to be a Goliath design.

What else would it look like though? The Steel Clan is likely modeled after Goliath because he is the biggest and strongest Gargoyle. Also, I would guess there must be some intimidation factor in having to fight something that looks like yourself, except it has lasers.
I'd say more Xanatosian or something... maybe the Steel Clan would work better if all the others had different faces, leaving Xanatos with the Goliathan one.

I don't want to say too much, but I'll just say that there are certain things you can only do if your robots look like the real thing.
Well, the Gargoyles don't know that Xanatos is the red one, so he can't give himself away that easily. I'm guessing Xanatos is impressed with how strong Goliath is and thinks that robot versions would be stronger.Originally Posted by Knux Five

It also introduces plot points that become very important to the origins of Xanatos, Demona and Macbeth. Isn't it amzaing what they were able to pack into a single half hour?Originally Posted by William C. Maune

I think he's got some jealousy/envy going on. Especially all his attempts to "dominate" Goliath could have some odd psychosexual connotations.Originally Posted by Knux Five

You gotta love Xanatos... he's such a cold bastard, yet he can hide that with diplomacy.
And Broadway's little victory pose... I still love that, even years later.![]()

I was shocked by how much ass Broadway was kicking. Also, did this episode have an appearence by the infamous recurring bystandard? I love how even an unimportant civilian becomes important later.
