I was completely speechless when this episode premiered all those years ago. This is easily one of the best episodes, I just hope they don't edit what I think they'll edit.

It was a time of darkness, it was a world of fear, it was the age of Garogyles. Toon Zone's number three animated show of all time returns to a cable network you actually recieve. This is the official talkback thread for episode #8, "Deadly Force," airing on ABC Family's Jetix block Saturday March 27th at 11:30 AM Eastern. Defend the night, watch this morning and comment on this episode.
Elisa Maza's job is to serve and protect. However, it isn't like the movies. One Gargoyle is about to find this out the hard way. While there was never a problem when the series was originally on, this episode was banned from Toon Disney for a long time. Will it air in tact today? Tune in to find out. Jalapeņa! ABC Family Jetix.
Spoilers: If the episode has already aired on ABC Family Jetix you do not need to worry about using spoiler tags. If you must comment on episodes that have not yet aired on ABC Family Jetix please use spoiler tags due to the number of people who have not seen the series. Thank you!

Easily in Gargoyles top 10 best episodes of all time! I love this ep, and, yeah, i hope they don't edit the part out also.
Grr, they edited out the blood by zooming in. At least they left in Elisa lying almost dead and the actual gunshot sound effect...
Yay! They kept in Broadway being shocked! ^_^
I just noticed, everybody left Elisa's stove on. Shouldn't her apartment be burnt down by the end of the episode?

In other words, they kept the Toon Disney edit. No surprise.
And the first appearence of Matt Bluestone, who has an awesome first name!

I haven't had the chance to watch any eps on ABC Fam, but have they been showing the edited versions? If so, then I'll just wait for the dvds before I consider watching this series again.
Anyway, it wasn't one of my favorite episodes. For season one my favorites were "Long Time Til Morning," "The Edge," "Reawakening," and the one where Demona puts a spell on Goliath thanks to Brooklyn.
1. It does look like they are keeping the Toon Disney edits.Originally Posted by Deadly Messiah
2. The Demona-Goliath-Brooklyn episode is titled "Temptation," which aired earlier today.
This was a great episode. I can't wait for the DVDs: uncut and commercial free with no on screen promos or logos. I like how Goliath was so protective of Elisa and how Broadway took her to the hospital. I felt bad for Broadway because he didn't really understand how guns worked when he accidentally shot her. Goliath's rage at Dracon was really cool because he hasn't known Elisa for a long time but is already fiercely protective of her. A great episode. And people don't miss tomorrow's episode "Enter MacBeth". It features one of my favorite characters. *****.

"I knew we made a mistake the minute I saw that little bologna loaf in the hospital bassinet," Calvin's Dad from Calvin and Hobbes.
So what exactly was edited? Besides the blood appearing/disappearing, I didn't notice much else that seemed 'odd.'
I'll have to agree with everyone, though. This episode is amazing. I'm speechlelss.

Well, I had a chance to see this again, and it's still one of my favorites. It only goes to show how dangerous guns really are, seriously.
I didn't mind the edits so much. I remember seeing the ep. for the first time flinching at Broadway gaping at his blood covered hands. The time cut they did shortened the gore, but kept the shock value in my opinion.
This really was a first rate episode.
Aww look, I see an itty-bitty turret! Boss, can I blow it up? Pretty please?!
Just a few brief scenes in the apartment where a lot of blood was shown(i.e. Elisa lying in a pool of blood-replaced by a closeup of her face; a brief part when Broadway picked her up was cut- you could see quite a bit of blood on her abdomen before). It wasn't too distracting even if you've seen the original uncut version.Originally Posted by silverwings01
Anyway, I was glad to see this episode aired at all, even if it was editted. It's one of the most powerful of the series, and I like the message it sends, that guns are not mere toys to be trifled with. Both Elisa and Broadway learned this lesson the hard way, and it was done very, very well.
One thing bugged me, though- how did Goliath know how to operate that laser weapon at the end? He was still pretty new to such weapons, after all...maybe he picked it up watching Dracon's men?
Anyway, great episode, I give it five stars.
Elisa sure has a nice place for being a NYC cop. She must be taking kickbacks from the criminals she arrests.
Xanatos couldn't have picked a better right man in Owen.
When Dracon was testing the weapons, he shot at the tree and made a little hole than the laser hit the rock and it exploded. Why didn't the laser blow up the tree or go through the rock instead?
Elisa's snug, black t-shirt is always a plus.
King Beld: Conquest. Unification. It's all the same.
Probably picked it up from either Demona or watching TV with Hudson.Originally Posted by Obsidian

This is perhaps one of the best "Object Lesson" Episodes Disney has Ever Cranked out (Next to Darkwing Duck's "Duck Blind" Episode).
of course This was in the Frank Wells Era of Television Programming and whatever Frank and Michael Eisner were doing back then, had Quality written all over it... too bad that after Wells Died, Eisner went back and had them edit out the one scene (about Elisa lying in a pool of Blood). but at least they kept the Scene in where Broadway's hand is also covered in blood..(Also the thing is that Disney has this thing where they are rating the TV Shows too low IMHO...this should have been a Y-TV7(FV) rating..but then again heck it's Disney.. I guess they didn't want to shock the kids..
The interesting thing is what Goliath does at the end.. very ingenius indeed.
but all in all one of the best Gargoyle Episode that teach a "Object Lesson here" 4 and 1/2 out of 5 in my book. and in fact I guess now I have to Watch 2 shows from Disney.. Gargoyles nad Kim Possible after all, Quality Programming makes you watch...

Not one of my favorite episodes but still good. ^-^ I remember watching when it first aired and saying "Wow, Disney actualy had the guts to show some blood!"
I think that the gore was nessisary in this ep to add more impact - or at least shock value to the issue.

correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this episode lauded by one of those parental watchdog groups that tend to normally ruin all the shows people like us tend to like?

I think it indeed was that reason that the animation Studios (at Burbank) most likely had to edit it, shogun.. Perhaps the watchdog group complained about Eliza's Floor soaked in blood Drenched Scene, and complained it was TOO Violent and gorey, so Disney went back and redid the scene that is edited, leaving the scene of a Close up of Eliza's Face (But interestingly enough did anyone catch the scene where Broadway looks at his hand after putting Eliza on the Gurney, and realizes it was covered in blood? (why didn't the Group protest about that?!!!)Originally Posted by shogunthethird

Funny, I remember distinctly the show being praised for this particular episode by either a parents group or a parent-based gun control group...or something like that, especially how they depicted the reactions and gunshot so realistically
