    Questions about Wonder Woman

    Like This Thread!
Is Wonder Woman supposed to be the Roman goddess, Diana, and thus the equivalent of the Greek goddess, Artemis?

And if so...I don't know whether this would be an appropriate question to ask on this forum, but...wouldn't that make her a perpetual virgin, and thus eliminate any possibilities of a romance with Batman, if she is supposed to safeguard her chastity for all eternity?

In any case, as a goddess, and especially as one who comes from a realm where there are no men, and where women are absolutely independant and self-sufficient, wouldn't Diana be ABOVE such...what should we say..."mortal" or "human" things like romance, love, sex etc?

    Just wondering...

Princess Diana is an Amazon and not a Goddess, though in the current comics run she is The Goddess of Truth.
Her origin is patterned after the Story of Pygmalion and her powers are the gifts of the gods.
The answer to your question has not been fully revealed yet but depends on how you define things.
In ancient times "Rape" meant kidnapping as in The Rape of the Sabine Women etc.
The modern definition means that Diana is the only virgin amazon. and no it is not perpetual.
But given her history, lineage, royal station and mission in mans world. Her first time is gonna be very significant and should not just be anyone.
and virginity does not rule out girlfriends like her amazon sister Mala.
She is not "above" such things but she may feel its not a priority and she has more important priorities to deal with. Saving the world, her exile
As we see in Maid of Honor, she is beginning to reconsider a lot of things.

Diana is neither Roman nor a goddess. She'a an Amazon of presumably Greek descent. Although her powers are gifts from the Olympian gods (definetly in the comics, presumably on the show), she herself is mortal. She was for a time elevated to godhood in her comic book, but that didn't last long.

The goddess Artemis is one of her patron goddesses, although it is not known (at least on the show) where the name Diana came from, since that would be of Roman origin and thus foreign to the Amazons.

In the comics, she is named after Diana Trevor (Steve's mom) who ended up on Paradise Island, and died a hero.
