    Eclipsed Question (SPOILERS)

    Like This Thread!
I'm currently researching the background of the Ophidians (the snake people from the flashback scene), and this was all I could come up with:

    http://www.glcorps.org/ophidian.html

Can anyone give me some additional insight into these characters? The write-up doesn't say anything about them being snakes, so I'm thinking that the name and part of their concept was combined with...something else to create the characters for the show.

The Ophidians from the Eclipsed episode have nothing to do with anything related to the comics. Instead, it seems that they were inspired by Serpent Men from the Conan and Lovecraftian stories.

And, of course, it probably goes without saying that "ophidian" is a real word that means snake or like a snake. For example, when Data on ST:TNG meets some time-travelling aliens with a snake, he mentions that they are carrying an ophidian.

So, don't go looking for DC comics references. DC comics stories had nothing to do with this episode in any way, shape, or form.

i defintately saw a conan/frazetta feel from the snakemen. maybe do a little research on frazetta's paintings, there's plenty of sites that review the inspiration behind his "snakemen" paintings for example. i think this is legitimate because timm is a huge frazetta fan, it's possible there's an influence there. of course, i'm sure there's others as well.

I ahve GG 9 so i just dug it out and skimmed through it. The race i assume are the Ophidians look like brown medusa, with an eye in the middle of there chest.

There powers seem to be based around mind control, pitting Guy against his league by taking them over....

It's continued in 10, which i dont have, i will check my mates collection later.
