Superman is trapped inside an alien snakes mouth

Lobo: "That looks like it's gonna hurt"
Superman: "You said you owed me!"
    Lobo: "What? You mean now?!"

I love these episodes. The Preserver angle was a little weak, but the chemisty between Superman and Lobo was awesome. I'm not sure if this was the writers intention or not, but Superman came across as a little bland during this episode, presumably to play the straight man to Lobo's big mouth and bad ass 'tude.

Lobo skinning that snake was just brutal. I loved Timm's girlish yelp in the commentary on the DVD, amusing stuff. On a similar note, can anyone confirm that it was Timm voicing the Preserver's assitant?

It's a shame we didn't see Lobo more often. A great villain.

But we do know you can imitate Mark Hamill, as evidenced on the commentaries of both Return of the Joker and Heart of Ice. Ergo, your vocal versatility is already documented.

As for the thread topic, The Main Man two-parter is the most wonderfully ridiculous thing that S:TAS ever accomplished, and it's thoroughly enjoyable in every aspect. Not to mention, it houses Brad Garrett's finest voice performance to date.

Finally got the STAS set yesterday and sat through the Main Man commentary. Wow, that was a good episode. It's great how the crew was able to get away with so much without actually showing any real violence. Lobo skinning the snake was definitely a jaw-dropper moment, I'd remembered that fight but completely forgotten how it'd ended.

I'm surprised they didn't mention anything in the commentary about how this episode eventually ties into "The Call" from BB (though they do talk about Starro's cameo).

And yes, I'm glad the Dodo survived too.

I've yet to see anyone mention the disclaimer in the end credits: "No animals, aliens, or robots were harmed in the making of this cartoon."

Did anyone else notice the "Kizz" poster in Lobo's pen? I also noticed that Starro was in both parts of this two-parter (you get a glimpse as Lobo is brought on board the Preserver's ship).

Slightly better than part one just because Lobo and Superman's allience was done perfectly, they reacted as they should, after just fighting and they made a hilarious team.

Again another great episode, action packed, great animation, humor and whoa, the Preserver turning into that ugly alien! I would love to see another Superman/Lobo team-up on JLU because it worked so well here.

I would rather see an episode featuring J'onn and Lobo team up.

Their chemistry in Hereafter was great.

The last time I saw Lobo being brought up in a topic, every single poster hated him, and I couldn't tell why.

They did a good job with his sailor mouth--he actually sounded crude without saying anything but vaguely dirty-sounding gibberish. "You razza-frazzing geek wad!"

And....I'm still trying to figure out how a small alien could talk through its eyeball. It's not possible for that organ to emit sound.

The small alien talking through its eyeball is one of those things I don't really think about. I would just chalk it up to the fact that it is alien, and likely evolved differently.

As for the episode itself, it was really excellent. The interaction between Superman and Lobo was great, and we see that Lobo is not quite the jerk he wants everyone to think he is. Thanks to my DVD of STAS Vol. 1, I can rewatch this and enjoy it again and again.

This two-parter has been always my favorite story from Superman's first season. Great stuff.

    Lobo iz the shizznit.

I'm so happy they used him in the JL episode too...the guy kicks major butt. I wonder how Superman sneaked the Preserver's ship onto earth (as it was quite huge) and unloaded all the animals?

Oh well, doesn't matter...its still good stuff.

EDIT: LOL...I just noticed...at the end of "The Main Man" in the credits it says: "No aliens, monsters or robots were harmed in the making of this cartoon" or something like that!

    LOL

Surprisingly great followup episode. Superman and Lobo working together. The Preserver showing his true colors. Lots of action and fun quotes. I was impressed.

There was a not very nice joke in this episode. I'm not gonna say what it is.

Is Lobo the source of the slang term "frag", as far as I know used by gamers who play 1st person shooters?

Is the rhinoceros creature from the Herculoids? It sure looks like it.
