I remember an old post a long time ago rating the composers who have worked on the Batman series.

Most people agreed Danny Elfman's Batman theme was their favorite and his music for the movies (Batman and Batman Returns) the best.

I, however, would like to contest! Shirley Walker's rendition of the Batman theme is MY FAVORITE. The "Main Title" track on the MOTP score says it all. Her Batman theme sounds much more tragic than Elfman's. She added a mythic, depressing, yet legendary feel to it that I think perfectly suits Batman's character.

Elfman's theme is much too fast for me. It sounds like a chase sequence to me. I love how Walker's theme can be either slow or fast. You can't change speeds with Elfman's theme in order to create either a triumphant feel (fast) or a epic feel (slow).

I could go on and on.

All in all I love Shirley Walkers Batman theme.

If I was in charge of the next live action Batman film I'd make her the film's music composer not only to retain her theme but to put a smile on all the animated series fan's faces.

    But that's just me

Tia Carrere's "I Never Even Told You" is a beautiful ballad, though not as beautiful as her recent Playboy spread!!

Definitely an underrated soundtrack! I remember seeing this at Best Buy like 5 years ago, but I decided to get the Batman Returns and Raiders of the Lost Ark soundtracks instead. Not that I regret that move, but Shirley Walker really went all out on the score.

Even though I really dislike the Tia Carrere ballad at the end of the soundtrack, this is still a great listen. A near perfect listen.

There is one peice of score that I really wish was included, which is the piece that immediatly follows the "Ski Mask Vigilante" peice. Walker presented some rather intense music as the truck skidded out of control, and I was a bit disappointed to not see it on the soundtrack. But this can be easily overlooked at some great selections are included.

"The Birth of Batman" is such a great peice. Walker really pours in some amazing emotion into this piece. I can see Batman putting in the mask for the first time with this music, and can hear Alfred recoil in terror as he gazes upon the Dark Knight. Walker really grabbed the moment with this peice.

    A wonderful ****1/2 soundtrack!

The music is just awesome. The opening music just rocks. I could just play that part all day. I love it. And I like the birth of Batman too. You're right Jim, I just have to hear that music to see the scene in my mind.

I love the music from MOTP, but I have never been able to find the soundtrack! Does anyone know where I might be able to get it? I've checked places like Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, Sam Goodies..etc. I think my best bet at this point is to find it on the Internet somewhere.

My advice Joker85 is to check with your local Barnes and Noble. Most stores have a music section, and if they don't have it, they'll special order it for you if they're able to. I found the soundtrack at my local Barnes and Noble recently, and picked it up.

As for the soundtrack itself I think it's great. Definetly better than the Pokemon soundtracks I own. Even though I like them a lot.

I love this soundtrack, it puts the scenes into my head again. My favorite pieces are THE BIG CHASE, and BIRTH OF BATMAN, awesome music right there. They should put some songs on there from the series. I loved the music from Over The Edge. They should also make a SUB ZERO SOUNDTRACK, i would love that.

A very great soundtrack for a Batman movie. The movie itself was very sad in a way and certain pieces of music show this. I love the beginning of "the promise". Great piece of music. Of course the main titles rock. I also enjoy "The Big Chase" and the "Birth of Batman" is excellent. The only thing that is missing is the "Dark Knight Theme" (i think that is what its called...hehe). Its my favorite piece of music from the animated series.

Ah yes, the MOTP soundrtack, one of my all time favorites. Shirley Walker did a fantastic job here, as always. I like Danny Elfman's theme a tad better than Walker's, but the MOTP soundtrack is overall much better than either of Elfman's Batman soundtracks.

MOTP is such an emotional and epic score. My favorite tracks are "Main Titles", "The Big Chase", "The Birth of Batman", and "Batman's Destiny". The CD is missing some great cues from the movie, but most of the juicy stuff is here, so it's not too bad.

The song by Tia Carrere is awful. I listened to it once and right then decided to always stop the CD player at the end of track 10. But despite the horrible song, this CD is a true classic.

    See ya!

ooo, I was finally able to at least download it. I love it! I'm already so familiar with all the music, but it's great to listen to it at leisure and out of order, etc. It's amazing how well it can range from such a happy sound to such a dark sound. Never understood the choice of the lyrical song at the end. I love it, it's very cool, just didn't seem to fit to me. If it's representative for Bruce and Andrea, it's perfect of course, I just always view it as odd for a Batman movie.
