The're having another Free Comic Book Day? When is it?
I was really trying to keep this a secret until the date got closer... But solicitations are getting out, and GREEN GHOST was quick enough to catch the news and post it up here on the Toon Zone boards. So...
There's no excuse for passing up this comic now! All you've got to do is show up to your local comic store bright and early on Free Comic Day and get your copy... while supplies last.
And THAT is what I want to talk to you guys about. "While supplies last." If you want to ensure that a FREE COPY of BATMAN ADVENTURES #1 is waiting for you-- talk to your local comic shop owner NOW (or as soon as humanly possible). Let them know that THIS is the FREE COMIC that you want, need, and can't live without! This way, he (or she) will order the appropriate ammount of copies. Ordering is going to happen soon! So work fast, Batman-fans!
In the past, the free comics on Free Comic Day have usually been reprints of thing you probably already own (for example: Ultimate Spider-Man #1 was given away at KB Toys for awhile, as well as being a big seller, reprinted in magazine format, in Marvel Must-Haves, hardback, softback, and even posted free on-line... I think they even used lasers to shine it onto the surface of the moon... just kidding... for now). Ahem. Anyway... BATMAN ADVENTURES #1 will be a first in MANY ways! A first printing! And a first issue to boot!
You've seen the 10 cent Batman, the 13 cent Gen 13, the 9 cent Fantastic Four, and a 10 cent Superman and 25 cent Daredevil are on the way...
But BATMAN ADVENTURES #1? We're GIVING it away! As long as you show up to your store on Free Comic Day-- AND it's still in stock! Those last two conditions are up to YOU and YOUR RETAILER! We've done all we can, the rest is up to YOU!
And if you like what you see-- come back in just a COUPLE weeks and #2 will be waiting for you (at the usual price). We're working extra fast to get THAT issue to the stands so you can double dose on BATMAN ADVENTURES that month... and all for the price of ONE issue!
Phew.
Well there you have it. What do YOU think?

I think..I'd rather catch 40 winks than get up bright and early for a comic book. Why? Cause I'll end up buying 2 copies of it anyway, so it doesn't matter to me if it's free..
Still, a free comic would be nice..but, alas, I have a hard time getting people to TAKE me to the comic store, let alone bright and early..

Thrilling!!! I'm so excited!!! It was fated!!!
"Leaping Lanny and Randy Savage are brothers, and Randy Savage, your name is Randy Poffo. THAT'S RIGHT, RANDY POFFO. You're ashamed of going around calling yourself Poffo so you probably got the name Savage because you're ashamed of putting yourself on the same level as your brother because he is much better than you are. YOUR BROTHER IS A HUMAN BEING. YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A SCUMBAG. THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE; YOU'RE A DOG. YOUR NAME IS POFFO." - Ronnie Garvin to Randy Savage, ICW Wrestling, 1980.
This is an ingenious way to get a bigger, wider audience to read the new animated series. I'm looking forward to seeling how DC is gonna handle this. This has potential to be gigantic.
BTW - Nice avatar, Dan!![]()

Cool i remember it last yr, i just happen to walk in during my lunch (the comic book shop was in the financial dist, so they had a lot left) and they were giving out comics. I was like cool!
Same here. Besides, I have a feeling that I'd have to order my free comic, anyway.Originally posted by Bird Boy
a free comic would be nice..but, alas, I have a hard time getting people to TAKE me to the comic store, let alone bright and early..I certainly hope that the "local" (― hour+ drive from here) comic shop actually orders these comics! It can be like pulling teeth trying to get animated series comics around here. I should give them a call sometime.
Awww man, I'd better get to the comic book store early, otherwise there won't be enough issues for me to actually BUY one, let alone get one for free.
Thanks for the info, Dan da Man!

I take there will be also be a copy available to buy. While I quite like getting a free comic book, I don't want my Bruce Timm cover to have 'Free Comic Book Day' plastered on top of it. I'd quite happily pay for a copy without that on it.
My god this is so freaking cool.
I bow my head in shame. Yes, I buy my comic books at Books-A-Million. I mean, they have a discount card that you can get that saves you ten percent. I frantically reach for a phone book looking for a comic shop. Man, I don't want Free Comic Book Day plastered all over my beatiful cover.

For those who don't want a free comic...
or a comic that has the words "Free Comic Day" on it...
there will be a standard non-free newsstand edition.
For those of you who just feel wrong NOT paying for a comic...
You can take your two dollars and change...
Put it in an envelope, and mail it to...

Cool news. Can someone mention this in the Comics forum as well?
Consider it mentioned. I really hope DC hits a home run with this choice. They made a good choice with using JUSTICE LEAGUE ADVENTURES #1 last year as their FREE COMIC BOOK, mainly becuase these are the books that have the best chance for success. BATMAN ADVENTURES will hopefully do much better this May.

With that cover, and those names....I (knock on wood) expect this title to get some serious attention!
One question though....why was "The" left off the title? Wasn't it "The Batman Adventures"....![]()
I think I may have asked this before, but are all comic vendors obligated to participate in Free Comic Day, or is it their choice? I suppose they could just order the ones that are actually for sale. I have a feeling that I'd never get a free comic around here!
Free comics are just reprints that my store would charge for anyway
