When I first saw this I thought it was going to be awesome. There Supes and the great Yellow Lantern stood ready to duke it out, but Cinestro just tossed him around like he was a toy. Supes was completly overpowered, but a rookie like Kyle could hold up better then him? I don't know but I think that it is a little illogical that Supes would fall to him that easily, but maybe he had gained so much power by nailing the other Green Lanterns.

BTW: What was Cinestro's other source? A bunch of evil blue elves?

    Did you notice?

    Kyle was basicly Hal.
He looked like him(minus the white steaks)
    Had his costume
And used his chant for powering up the ring(Kyle doesn't even have one).
The only thing that was Kyle was his job and his doubt of being a good lantern.

Also when Sinestro threw Kyle into the plane it had Hal Jordan writtin on it. (The whole episod was a tribute to the Silver Age Green Lantern)

    And....

"DC" was written on Kyle's review of his art.

And that guy who stole Jimmy's camera. Am I the only one who thinks he looks a bit like Guy Gardner?

I loved the fight... very powerful... but you're right, I was surprised to see Supes barely took part in it. I think the story was meant to focus on GL, not Superman.

Yeah, they wanted to show how needed GL was, and that no one else could defeat Cinestro.

    Not Really

I can't say I was all that dissapointed. True, I want to seem Clark completely unscathed by more attacks, just standing there all Superman-like, as it were. But I didn't really mind it. I think they just wanted to show how powerfull the power of the rings were. My lord what an episode overall.....I loved it!

    Green Lanturn's light!

That was my favorite part and I can't even remember the whole darn thing...

Awesome episode. It just makes me even more depressed that Kyle's innocent, doubtfull, GL isn't the one we'll be getting when The Justice League show comes out. Anyone got any dirt on this John Stewart that we will be getting?

All I know is, after he gave up his ring when his time as GL was over he took the h out of his name and hosted the Daily Show. Dumb? Yeah, but it's all I got!

Yeah I was majorly disappointed in this fight.

Sinestro had killed all these other experienced GLs only to be beaten by this kid who had just found his ring less than a day ago. Kyle would have had no idea what the ring was capable of, plus he took no time to get used to flying before he was able to do it perfectly.

It was still a cool episode though. They just should have given Superman more of a role. Seeing him and a new Green Lantern getting licks in on Sinestro would have been cool.

I was disappointed by the whole episode, actually. The writers couldn't decide if they wanted Hal or Kyle in the uniform. And telling the origin took up too much time -- they should've just treated it like the Flash and Aquaman episodes, with the character already in existence. Then there would have been more time for a great GL/Sinestro fight.

LOL. and LOL again. But I thought Craig Kilborn was GL before John Stewart.

What a stunning post. Actually people here blame that particular fight for being too big and not allowing Superman to interfere. It was a Superman episode, not a stand-alone GL ep.
Also... everyone usually seems to complain about how origins are often lacking in most Superman/BB eps... now you're saying they spend too much time on this one? I definitely disagree here.

I completely agree. Plus I absolutely loved the episode! I think what they did was justified, even though skipping the origin probably would have been a really good idea, because we obviously can't have his original comic origin. I think of it like I do the Robin situation in TNBA. We couldn't animated a second Robin getting killed by The Joker (plus everyone HATED him lol) so they slightly altered it.

But another thing I want to avoid is something like Superman's relationship with Dr. Fate. In "Hand Of Fate", which was a cool episode, we aren't introduced to Fate at all. He's just there. I'd like something to point to his origin somewhere along the line, at least.

Yeah, especially for me, since i never read the comics and i had no idea what was going on w/ Fate.

here's a plausible exuse: an irregulatrity in the sun (solar flare, solar eclipse) that wasn't mentioned in the show. and it lowered superman's power, just for that episode.

So this is the episode airing tonight on CN! Nice.
"Leaping Lanny and Randy Savage are brothers, and Randy Savage, your name is Randy Poffo. THAT'S RIGHT, RANDY POFFO. You're ashamed of going around calling yourself Poffo so you probably got the name Savage because you're ashamed of putting yourself on the same level as your brother because he is much better than you are. YOUR BROTHER IS A HUMAN BEING. YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A SCUMBAG. THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE; YOU'RE A DOG. YOUR NAME IS POFFO." - Ronnie Garvin to Randy Savage, ICW Wrestling, 1980.

If I could rank this episode 10 stars, I would.

This is the greatest guest star episode ever devised

The animation from this episode and other episodes from this period make everyone look awkward and two-dimensional. When these episodes came out, I was really craving for old BTAS episodes.

In terms of a guest episode, I say it's tied with "Showdown"

I've always liked this ep. Generally, I liked any ep of STAS that explored the depth of the DCU:

    World's Finest: the Bat
    IBD: GL
    Speed Demons: the Flash
    The Main Man: LOBO
    Fish Story: Aquaman

    Darkseid & the New Gods

on the other hand, I didn't like "Warrior Queen" or "The Hand of Fate". Don't get mad, Karkull. To me, that ep was just filler. Karkull had a great design though. Maybe Dr. Fate will have a more inspired appearance on JL.

4.5 stars. Great episode (I refuse to call any show "filler" since every episode has a purpose). I knew practically nothing about the Green Lantern so seeing this episode was just so cool. Learning about new characters is always a plus with me.

Even though I still don't know much about the characters, the episode left me wanting more. This is why it loses .5 stars. I wanted more;this could have been a great start to a Green Lantern series. I hope JL shows more about GL in future episodes.
