Will Bruce Timm have more freedom with JLA on CN?

    Like This Thread!
The recent discussions about ROTJ on the Batman Beyond board got me wondering about this. Both are Warner properties, but does the JLA cartoon have to answer to the same censorship restrictions that Batman Beyond and ROTJ had to or will there be more freedom permitted on Cartoon Network, and subsequently in any original movies made for the series that they may release?

    Hey:

I think that the JLA show won't have any problems with censorship, cause Cartoon Network shows volience all the time such as Dragon Ball Z, Batman, Superman, and some other shows that they show. But since the WB and Cartoon Network are joining forces I have a bad feeling that all the good shows will be toned down on the volience, but what the heck we will still see the show that everyone is crazy about and I can't wait for it to premier on TV for the first time.

    Don't Worry!

TImm says that CN hasn't actually had any problems yet with any of their script work! They don't even get notes saying 'change kill to destroy'. CN has been completely cool with them. They already know what they can or cannot do. KWB has increased their censors this past year. CN hasn't becuase they're a cable network, and since they'r enot held back by network and FCC regulations, can do much more than any network. JL will be great becuase they ain't forced to bring in that kiddie factor. Also, remember on IMDB.com how it said "Batman's daughter Trina"? Well, that's gone -- THANKFULLY! JL isn't forced to throw in a teenage sidekick and/or idiotic morals. It could be as great as the original BTAS was...hopefully...I'm confident this show won't suck as much as X-MEN: EVOLUTION.

I don't think there should be any problems!

Considering WB is a basic network like Fox, NBC, ABC, etc. From what I understand, Cartoon Network is cable, so it's not freely accessable to the general audience, unless it's paid for. Although I personally don't agree with WB's censorship regulations, I can understand why they have to be tight on that issue. Because kids of all ages can tune in, and may not understand the concept of how to deal with violence. I hope things won't have to be changed due to censorship. I feel censorship takes away an artists' perspective, and that you don't get the "real deal."

Actually, if you watched the unsensored ROTJ, they did a very sloppy job with cleaning up a key part. If you waw it, I'm sure you know what I mean.

Oh my yes, they'll have freedom. DG quoted the statement I wanted to use, but it's worth repeating that CN is giving the scrips MUCH fewer notes than KWB, even when KWB had a lot less censorship (like in the days of "Over the Edge"). As far as I'm concerned, CN is the best place for JLA.

    Possible Salvation

CN will undoubtably release AT LEAST the 90 minute premiere on video/DVD. They have a good habit of releasing their popular series on video, so ther emay be hope for you yet!!

I'll be taping every episode, and I'm offering copies of the episodes to anyone who wants 'em. I've heard a lotta people are missing out on it because they don't have cable, and I think that'd suck, so I'm doing what I can.

To those interested, I'll be recording off Direct TV onto VHS, so it'll be pretty good quality.

    That's Awesome!

That's awfully kind of ya. DirectTV (which I have at home -- but the Canadian version) has astonishing picture quality! I'm not sure if I'll get Justice League next fall, but I can't wait to see it!

    Somewhat worth it

lol, that's true. But although I grieve for my non cable toonzoners, isn't it worth it? CN and JL won't be given any censor aggrivation pretty much because of where it is, network wize. So I'm sure there won't be any ROTJ incidents ever again.

    Definatly

I think the action will be more intense in this series. Plus, I hope we see more of Superman's powers here, and I think we will. While we got a nice showcase of it on his series, it was just mainly his heat vision, flying and x-ray vision. He's got more than that -- let him go all out!!

But showing Superman's extra powers is risky... I really don't want the series to turn into a lame DBZ clone. Let's hope Timm and the crew can come up with an ok compromise.

Well,I know of at least two episodes where they've alluded to "relationships" in prison. Also, the blood and flying teeth(of course,PPG is meant to be humorous, but still..).
