    Does Batman have any friends?

    Like This Thread!
Seriously. I mean none of the JLA really likes him they just put up with him, I think the only people outside of his inner circle that I would call a "friend" would be the Commish. I think its fasinating that he really doesnt like anybody.
If Batman keeps Anti-JLA files does his protégé write Anti-Young Justice recipes in his cookbook?

Re: Does Batman have any friends?

Well, he does have Alfred and the JLA does kinda like him in a way. I mean like they like him because of his "pride" that he's the only JL member without super powers just his handy-dandy utility belt. And, from time to time, the bat-clan does respect him. . . I think.

'He doesn't really like anybody' -- that I'm not sure of. Playboy act, fake personality... kinda hard to say he really does. Besides the love(s) of his life and Alfred, the only people he must love is his parents.

I think that he has friends, although he'd never admit to it. Alfred, Dick Grayson, Jim Gordon, Harvey Dent (pre Two-Face), Lucious Fox, Green Arrow, and Leslie Tompkins, he'd probably consider friends.

Er, I think you meant "Lucius" Fox there, unless a porn star superhero has entered the BTAS universe .

Also, I don't think Green Arrow has ever appeared in BTAS. I wouldn't call them "friends" in the comics, either. I think GA tends to think Batman is way too uptight and "establishment" for him.

I'd add Barb Gordon/Batgirl, Tim Drake/Robin, and Detective Renee Montoya to the list of probable friends. I could make a case for Selina Kyle during BTAS, but I think that went south after her interesting-personality-ectomy that happened after her redesign for TNBA.

I could even make a case for Superman; they both have a tremendous amount of respect for each other, even though their methods are entirely different.

In the comics, J'onn and Batman are friends, although both of them are a bit too cold to actually acknowledge this. There was a terrific scene dealing with this in Kingdom Come.

I think Carl is his name. He's that guy who created Hard-ac and Batmite in the TV show. Other than him I could say Veronica Vreeland, Harvey Dent, Commisioner Gordon and the Nightwing, Robin and Batgirl. Its interseting that no one has mentioned Talia.

Well he can always just hang out on Police HQ roof pointing the bat signal towards a wall and make shadow puppets.

As I see it, Bruce Wayne has friends, while Batman has allies. Now, whether or not Batman's allies consider themselves friends of his is another matter.

I think it's unfair to say that Batman doesn't like anybody or doesn't have any friends. He just chooses his friends with great care. The thing is (and I seem to be saying this a lot lately ), Batman doesn't love with half a heart. He's been hurt so often and so deeply, he refuses to open his heart to anyone unless he really means it. With him, there's no such thing as a casual friendship. He either really likes you or he doesn't. All or nothing.

As to specific friends, there aren't that many on the animated series besides the ones already mentioned. Comic-wise, I'd like to point out that almost since their creation 60+ years ago, Batman and Superman have been friends- good friends. A couple of times in the World's Finest comics Superman actually called Batman his best friend, and in one issue, the Flash (this is Barry Allen, who unlike his modern counterpart actually thought things out) actually called them brothers. You could see the seeds of that relationship being planted in TNBSA (note the concern for each other's well being in THE DEMON REBORN), but it was never given the chance to develop. We'll probably see it continue and evolve in Justice League.

Batman isn't antisocial. He's just cautious.

We forgot to mention Andrea Beaumont (pre-Phantasm). Of course, they were "more than friends", but I digress.

Wow, for such a loner, Batman sure has a lot of friends.

I think that Bruce has friends. The Bat crew (BTAS and Comics) are friends and family, Jim Gordon (the only Commish IMHO), JLA, the closest of which I believe are Clark and Arthur. Lucius , Harvey before he became Two-Face, and you might say that Selina (Catwoman) is as well. I also think that his friends consider him a friend too.

Methinks Zatanna would count as a friend, too - though she's only appeared once and we don't know too much about where her friendship with "John" (Bruce) has led today.

Of course Bruce/Batman has friends, but I doubt he would list them under that title. He would see them as allies or partners. But of his main friends he has: Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Alfred and the Commish. I find that group to be the core group, if we're expanding to the Jl series, then all those heroes are included as well. To get more technical with the "friend" title, Dick is like a surrogate son and close friend, Tim somewhat a surrogate son, Barbara a friend, advisor and partner. Alfred and Gordon always seemed like very important fatherly figures.

You guys might freak out when I say this, but I kind of think that Flash is his friend...I can't explain it...I just seen some signs...they don't get along...but then neither do a lot of married couples. Plus Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman seem like they're sort of his friends. Don't know about the rest though. Superman is kind of a mystery...they have a strange...relationship, he and Batman. I'm not really to sure we should call it a "friendship," but definitly a close relationship. Plus Batman's got a lot of other friends that I'm sure other people will mention, among them other than Alfred and Jim Gordon, are Leslie Thompkins, Tim Drake, Dick Grayson, and others.

*smacks self* OMG, how could I forget dear Leslie! Anyhoo, yeah, I can see Flash and Batman being friends, so same way I see Gl and Flash being friends. You wouldn't think they are because the personalities contrast so, but they are.

I always figured that, as far as the JL is concerned, Batman would get along the best with Martian Manhunter.

Maybe Robin is the jealous, controlling type and doesn't like Batman to socialize too much.

I wonder how friendly the JLA was after Tower of Bable?
