JL- The Best of Both Styles

    Like This Thread!
The thing I have noticed about Justice League is that the designs of the characters are kind of a cross between the detailed BTAS characters and the sleaker look from The New Batman/Superman Advertures. Personally I've always liked the BTAS style, because the TNBA and Superman styles were kind of dull ( I HATED the Joker redesign!). After watching Worlds Finest and Injustice for All back to back, I noticed that Lex looked much better than he did on Superman. He had more detail in his face. Same with the Joker, he is kind of a cross between the two designs. Same can be said with Batman, he's not as plump as he was on BTAS, and not as flat as he looked on TNBA. So which style do you like? BTAS, Batman/Superman, or the cross between the two with Justice League?

Yeah I also Like Batman's Jl Design.

He doesn't look bulky and doesn't look skinny and I like the long ears better, The only thing I want now is for them to exaturate the length of his cape like they did in BTAS.

And Superman's design is also nice even though the grey on his hair is driving me nuts I got used to it. He's more ruged and his cape is longer just like in the Comics.

i dont think superman's suppose to have grey hair. they just changed the shine to whiteish grey instead of the stas blue. personally, i liked the blue shine better.

I'm really liking the JL designs more and more each time I see it. I like this Batman the best out of the three and the same can be said for The Joker. I have no real complaints about any of the characters' looks. Superman looks different from STAS, but it really doesn't bother me too much.

Well, I'll be the first to say it. While the other JL character designs are great, I really don't care for Batman or Superman's designs. The only problem with Superman is that he looks like he's in his forties. My problems with Batman are that the ears are twice as long as they should be, and his boots have heels like cowboy boots. I actually favor the TNBA Batman design over the BTAS and JL designs because it looked alot like the awesome costume he wore in "Batman: Year One".

I'd prefer this to what we currently see in JL. Superman could use a face lift himself.

The other designs are pretty good. It's not the kind of stuff I'd hang on my wall, but I wouldn't use it to line the bottom of birdcages either.

Actually, Superman didn't have any highlight in S:TAS... just solid black hair...

I do like the JL character designs, but as I've said many times before, I don't think that the animators draw them very well... although I must say Harvey Dent's design above looks great for Batman, too !!

I personally like the new Superman design, and when he's drawn well he doesn't look old, just a liitle less boyish than S:TAS. But would they please learn to draw his emblem !!! To my eyes it pretty much always looks bad.

Batman's design isn't that much different than TNBA, and is best described as a hybrid of TNBA and B:TAS... taller ears (which I like, but they're usually drawn poorly), different belt (I like the TNBA one better), and the blue is back, not only on the cape, but the head, gloves, trunks, and boots (I hate the heel... I would think he'd have soft rubber soles for athletic and stealth purposes). I'm glad the highlights are back, and the blue is OK, too... I think it looks better on the screen, and I like to think of it as black, highlighted with blue, just like the old comics where people had blue highlights in their hair. but we knew the hair was supposed to be black. Sorry, I know this has been debated ad nauseum in the past ('cause I think I've been involved every time !), so I'll shut up now ... I'm just really particular when it comes to Batman !!!

I also am fine with all the other designs, but sure wish they would have went with BT's design that was used for the first WW maquette (the WB Store version). I liked that one better than the JL design.

Here are my takes on the JL designs:

Superman: He's my least favorite design. The gray shine, bags under his eyes, and huge cheekbones make him look much older than he should be. He's also a little too bulky.

Batman: The ears look a little too long from some angles and the heels on his boots are impractical, but otherwise it's fine. I do miss the yellow circle behind the bat insignia though. If they took it off because it was too colorful, why not make it the same shade of yellowish-brown as his utility belt?

Wonder Woman: I don't mind her design at all. It's pretty faithful to the comics.

Flash: I would have preferred his costume with a darker shade of red, but otherwise I have no problems.

Green Lantern: Can anyone explain why he has a huge chest and torso, anorexic waist, and thin legs? It looks totally disproportionate. Other than that, the costume itself is an improvement over the comics designs.

Martian Manhunter: I actually prefer the sleeker, ghost-like animated design to the bulkier comics design. It really emphasizes his phasing abilities and makes him look a little creepier to boot. I've never been a fan of his costume but it looks exactly as it does in the comics, so I don't have any complaints.

Hawkgirl: I know I'm not the only one who notices that her costume DOESN'T MATCH. It'd look a little more coherent if they just changed the yellow top and yellow stripes along the front of her boots to match the goldish-brown color of her helmet. And maybe add the stripes along the hip of her red tights like the comics version.

I prefer the TNBA version of Batman, since I think the black in his outfit is more fitting to his whole dark persona, more so than blue anyway.

And I think Superman's upper body is WAY too bulky. I'm suprised his legs haven't broken under the tremendous weight.
