How to run Cartoon Network, with out really trying!
Just saw the posted JLA episode list till September 1st. WHAT IS GOING ON!!!! Wasn't it just last week that we were told by one of the Powers that Be over on Cartoon Network that we wouldn't have to wait till the Fall to see "Injustice for All"? Granted Fall starts on September 22ed or 23rd, so they still might be able to get it in under the wire, but thats just playing with phrasiology. In all reality we aren't going to see it before the fall unless CN changes the schedule. Which they have done in the past, but I don't see it happening here.
This is almost a text book example of how to go out of your way to destroy the momentum and fan base of a program. How many viewers are going to make the assupmtion, after months and months of reruns that JLA is dead? If they hop on the net and cruise a few JLA related sites they would discover that the sieries is alive and well, kind of. But how many are going to even bother to do that?
Bottom line here is that Cartoon Network appears to be going out of it's way to sideline the show. Why are they sitting on 6 episodes in the states and at the same time showing them overseas? Whats the REAL reason that "Injustice" is being withheld. If they are waiting to air it in connection with the release of the video game based on the episode then we truly have reached a point where the merchandising people are turing JLA into a big commercial for the game.
To put it mildly, this is not a good thing.

re..
agreed.. i am surpised on how no one else posted on this topic.. this is very alarming, and scary for the JL future..
CN: "wow, we have no more viewers, i don't know how this happened.. we only ran re-runs of half of our season one episodes this summer.. guess we should cancel it.."
greater power behind the re-runs: *smirks*

I'd love to agree, but I doubt they are as foolish as you think. No artistic integrity, no care for the audience sure, but right now is Power Puff time and it will continue to be until well after the movie premiers. They will start a promo blitz for JL about a month before the video game and it will receive all the attention it deserves, getting back its audience while bringing the game to the fore as well. Sorry, but TV has been this commercialized for a while.
OTOH, in the long term, they're lack of airing may indeed be disadvantageous. Cartoon seasons are fairly sparse, so figuring out a way to effectively air them with consistency is the real key to audience preservation and growth.

I never understood how most seasons of TV shows, with 26 episodes, could be aired consistently, and JL, with its 26 episodes, is having trouble....?

I just plain out don't get it. Since November, they have only made Secret Orgins (pt. 1,2,3) In Blackest Night (pt. 1&2) The Enemy Below (pt. 1&2) Paradise Lost (pt. 1&2) War World (pt. 1&2) Fury (pt. 1&2) and Legends (p 1&2). Shouldn't there be more than that? I'm getting really tired of seeing all of these new episodes for all of these shows on Cartoon Network. But what about Justice League? And as far as I am concenered, the episodes for Justice League so far haven't been the greatest. I mean, the only one's I liked were the Enemy Below, Fury, and Paradise Lost. War World sucked, Legends was ok, and In Blackest Night was a little on the weak side for me. Secret Orgins was ok too, but I still needed more. So, hopefully, the new episode's will come to our rescue.

well, there has been topics about this--Just calm down people. It's a show. These threads do nothing to help the situation. Believe me, we'll see I4A before years end...
And, BTW, the "powers at CN" didn't say we'd be seeing it by this fall. They said we'd be seeing it around Fall.
and need I remind you guys, that the JL creative team is still working on JL? It's not going to "Destroy" the series like some of you are saying. I really don't see why you guys are so upset over this. It's a show, a darned good one, but a show none-the-less.

Do you people even realize that it takes months to complete, from start to finish, about 22 minutes of animation. That's from when they start writing the script and creating the storyboards to the point where it's ready to air. A few weeks ago we got confirmation that they hadn't finished "Metamorphosis", "A Night Of Shadows", or "The Savage Time" yet. CN couldn't have aired the episodes even if they wanted to. As for "Injustice", it sucks but it's being held back to promote an upcoming game, nothing out of the ordinary for Hollywood.
So just HOLD YOU'RE HORSES PEOPLE! We've been promised to get these episodes before the start of the fall (second season). Season 2 is expected to begin airing in November. The episodes will air. Some of you are acting like this is a world shattering event. IT'S NOT! CN's just doing what it always does with it's origional shows: air a few new episodes, wait a few months, air a few episodes, wait a few months. They're not going to change their operating procedure, which they've been doing for years, because a few fans get pissy.
Deal with it.

They said the same thing about the PPG and Grim & Evil.

To Thine own self be true
Let me start by saying just how really puzzled I am by the reactions of a couple of people who posted here that should know better. I think WE THE FANS have a very legitimate gripe over the fact that their are 6 episodes of JLA in the can and they haven't been aired in the states. They get aired in Austrailia but not here??? Does that not strike you as a little odd.
Second, we were indeed told that the episode would air before fall. We were not told that it would air "before years end" or "before the start of the second season", "before fall" is the exact quote. Lets all stick to facts.
I don't think anyone here doubts that a ton of blood, sweet, and tears have gone into making this show. And no one here has said anything like, "Why are the Producers, the animators, the scripwriters, the colorists, etc, etc, etc, holding these shows out of the rotation". We have been very clear, the problem is with the management of CN. We know that it takes months, if not years, to produce a high quality show like this. But when the show is done, and ready to be aired, and then it gets pulled out of rotation, then an intelligent and curious person would wonder why. Remember the statement "Cartoon Network was planning to do a promo with IJA but they didn't do that, so thats why it was held back." EXCUSE ME??? It is becoming more and more obvious that the reason IJA is being held back is to use it as a promotional commercial for a video game. Is that not just a little backwards to how things are usually done, even in the bizzare world of showbiz.
Finally, lets me relate a real world experience I had yesterday. I went to my favorite Comic Book Shop in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and the old store manager was in buying his weekly books. We got into a coversation and the topic came around to the animated JLA. He asked me if the show had been cancelled because all he had seen for the last 3 months was reruns. I told him that it wasn't cancelled and indeed had been renewd for a second season, but that it looked like it wasn't going to air any new episodes until September. And then he told me 3 things that should chill the people in programming to the bone at CN.
1) He use to record the episodes to keep them around. But he had lost track of new episodes in April and had missed "Legends" because he didn't know any new spisodes were being aired.
2) He didn't know when JLA aired anymore because CN had bounced it around the schedule so many times. Was it still on Mondays?
3) If he remembers to watch in the fall he will, otherwise he'll borrow the tapes from me, if he could.
This is from a guy way tuned into the comics scene, and a major JLA/Green Lantern fan. Perhaps CN and others think that everyone out in the real world logs onto the net to find out what yo-yo trick has been preformed on JLA this week, but in reality only a damn small number of us bother to do that. Those of you who have said "Damn it, it's only a TV show" are very right. And like any show, when it loses, or in this case, alienates a portion of it's audience, and it's numbers slip, then we have to face the fact that cancellation becomes more likely. Anyone want to guess how bad the audience slipage will be between the last first run episode :Legends, Part 2: and the next new one, when ever that will be. I would be willing to bet 30%.

Three words: Please stop whining.
When it gets here, it gets here. It's not the end of the world. For all you know, their plans could change. So please, stop it.
-
It's true because I say it is Damn it!
I have been posting here on the forums at ToonZone for many months now, and I have never found any users to be anything less then on their best behavior. Until today that is. Why are some of you so threatened by a little critsism of JLA?
Also the posting of information and observation is not considred a Whine. Not that I'm holding my breath, because the boorish behavior speaks for itself, but I think Mr. Turner, that you owe me an apology for you childish behavior.
-
Will this end...
I agree with everyone who says "Please Stop Whining" cause it's really getting annoying. The new episodes will air when it air. Everybody calm down, like the people who say we should stop watching CN!!! or How to ruin CN!!! Give me a break some of you only want to see Injustice 4 all!!! I will agree with some of yall when you guys say when are the new episodes coming but I and other people don't whine about it. Most of you guys are acting like your life depends on it. I know I sound cruel and some of you probably can't stand my guts right about now, but enough is enough!!! I'm throwing the towel I'm sick of posting this to people and I hope this thread closes and all the other threads close that complain about new episodes.
- Peace

And again I ask..............
Why are some of you so called responsible Forum members acting so defensive about this? Why all the chidish and boorish behavior?
-
I'm sensing nothing but bad vibes from this thread, and it will go no where but down from here on. Comments on peoples behavior and general bashing all around is going nowhere, and fast.
