You are the first person I've heard who likes the novel. Did you read the comics or trade first?
Nah. I'm kind of wierd in that I want ALL words or the whole thing animated and acted out. I just can't get into comics for some reason. Not enough imagination I guess *shrug*Originally posted by SLIPKNOT

But what did people find so bad about the novel? What sort of changes did they make? Inquiring, if unimaginative, minds want to know.

Other -- Kingdom Come.
Though I think that No Man's Land adapted to the animated DCU would make for an excellent miniseries. I doubt that Warners will ever do an animated miniseries though.![]()
Well, here's another one. I thought Greg Rucka did a fabulous job on the No Man's Land novelization- it's one of my favorite Bat-Books (not that there are many, a fact I bemoan frequentlyOriginally posted by SLIPKNOT
You are the first person I've heard who likes the novel.). Granted, a few subplots were cut out (for example, Nightwing in Blackgate) but that happens in any novelization. I have not read all the comics (lacking the financial resources to do so), but I know most of the story, and from what I could see, most of what Rucka cut out was clutter that overcomplicated the story. What he did present was a clean, streamlined story that moved smoothly from start to finish without going off on unneccessary tangents, and that allowed those fans like myself who don't have the time, money, and patience to collect every issue in a two-year maxiseries to enjoy the story of No Man's Land.
Woah, speaking of tangents...![]()
*ahem* I'm not a big fan of maxiseries storylines at all, but if I had to choose one, it would probably be No Man's Land- but as Mr. O said, only as a miniseries. I'd hate to see NML worked into the B:TAS/TNBA continuity- I don't even like it as part of the DC continuity. It makes a good elseworlds, but that's all.
If not NML, I'd go with Kingdom Come- again, only as an elseworlds.

No Man's Land would be cool...it'd be a good way to transition to the BB-Gotham style of architecture maybe. I know there might be a little bit of a bug with the ROTJ flashback scene-Gotham...especially if you want Robin to show up in NML.
I think KnightFall would be interesting in animated adaptation.

I'd like to see some version of NML animated. It'd probably be too early in the series for a One Million special, but some day an animated verison would be cool.
Optimus:"Well that's just Prime!"
Dinobot:"Negative. The question that has once haunted my being has been answered. The future is not fixed, and my choices are my own. And yet how ironic... for now i have no choice at all. I am warrior. Let the battle be joined."
Freakazoid:"HUGGBEES!!!"
Duff: Leela!!! Got me on my knees, Leela!!!
rather than an episodic approach, i think it'd be neat if we had themed seasons
hence Year One
then the Long Halloween
Dark Victory
year of the Joker: A Death in the Family, then The Killing Joke
Knightfall
Contagion
Legacy
NML
HBO's Spawn followed a thematic season format
it could work for batman, 13-part mini-series
OR I like the DTV idea: every year, WB releases a direct-to-video animated Batman movie (a la Scooby-Doo) Maybe then we can get Knightfall, Long Halloween, NML, etc...
Sonicsgate.org :a 2-hour documentary chronicling the unique circumstances that led to the Sonics' exodus to OKC
(1967-2008) Seattle Supersonics
And another Bud! Man, the second I got NML I couldn't put it down. That book was awesome, and I suppose it would be cool to see it animated. We already have literally seen some of The Dark Knight Returns animated, which totally rocked.

1."Reign of the Supermen"(this should be a DTV) would be cool.
2."Tower of Babel"(a JL story arc)this story has been wagered many times so i hope it gets animated

Calico the novel cuts a lot of the story out. The Joker should be in it a lot more. They only mention Poison Ivy they don't go into her story. The novel is mostly Huntress and Gordon's thoughts. You miss a lot of the story.
Not to mention Batman, Oracle & (the new) Batgirl. Quite a bit on Two-Face too. Em, also bits and pieces on Bane, Cain, Lex etc. I didn't follow the comics, so I have no idea what I'm missing out on, but the book's pretty good reading. I prefer it to "Knightfall".Originally posted by SLIPKNOT

Not sure how well NML would work in animation tho. Thoughts don't translate to the screen very well. Even the novel's plot seems rather too sprawling for a single movie, and the comic's version is even longer. A season of episodes might depict it better, but would people follow it over an extended length of time, since they know the plot already?
Absolutely !!!!Originally posted by Esplin9466
