    Best Animated Batman Design?

    Like This Thread!
I would have made an actual poll, but I don't know how. So just reply with your choice and a short explanation why.

    Here are your choices

    A. Batman The Animated Series

    B. The New Batman Adventures

    C. Justice League

(Note - I am talking about the design of the Batman character, not the design of the entire Batman show.)

And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply... am not... there."

A: Joker. He looked sinister like the Joker should. Very creepy and not silly.

B: Scarecrow for the same reason. His look was a look of terror. By far he had the coolest design of all.

C: Wonder Woman. She's one of those characters that can go either way and they made her look good.

I meant Batman himself. On which show did he look the coolest. Sorry I wasn't more specific.

I'd have to say the answer is "A."

Even though the Justice League cartoon is pretty much suck, I have to say that the best Batman design is on Justice League. Would have loved to see that design in B:TAS, of course ported to flow with the other B:TAS stuff. TNBA sucked design wise IMO. The Riddler they did was horrid.

The JL design is pretty dang cool. It fits, and reminds me a lot of the comic designs. The TNBA one was nice, but it just had so much gray to it. I love the BTAS design over it easily..but over the JL design, I'd have to say no. But I'm kinda torn on whether I like the emblem on the BTAS or the JL design more.

yeah, Justice League has a different "feel" to it than the older batman shows. It just doesn't feel the same. Besides, most of the team who worked with Timm before moved on, Paul Dini to duck dodgers, Alan Burnett to Static Shock, Robert Goodman to The Zeta Project, etc. All their best people moved on. They should hire them back after their respective shows have been cancelled.

This is actually a tough one...

The JL design is basically a hybrid of B:TAS and TNBA, but I liked the full shoulder highlight on the TNBA design better than the current thin JL highlight- but that is sort of the problem with both designs... The animators draw them badly MOST of the time. B:TAS didn't have "fixed" cape highlights so they really "lit" Batman better in those days...

I definitely prefer the plain black bat emblem over the yellow oval deal, and I like the pouch belt, too. I kind of like the "ears" on the longer side, like JL, but again the animators don't always draw them well. I liked the black-and-grey TNBA look, but it often looked flat on the screen to me, and probably because of the "Highlight" problem I mentioned earlier and the more square-edged design. I was kind of glad when they brought the blue back in JL because he looks less flat, but then they also re-added glove, trunk, top-of-the-head and boot highlights also. Those would have really helped the TNBA design, even in the grey color that they used.

In the TNBA episode "Never Fear", Batman looked pretty much perfect to me... The shoulder highlight worked because it actually moved with the cape, and the animators at TMS put in just enough rounded edges that Batman did NOT appear flat- even without the glove, head and boot highlights. They nailed the design (I thought he looked better than the model sheet )... so I guess that's my answer (even though I would include the additional highlights- "Cult of the Cat" had more of them, so the dimension was good, but they didn't draw Batman as well). Boy, am I picky or what !!?? When it comes to Batman, I guess I am...

    Poll added.

Hmmm, I think I'll have to go with B. I like the sleek look of the TNBA eps better overall anyway, and Bats is a lot more menacing and much better designed for quick, hard fight scenes. JL is very close to the TNBA look, and I like it a lot too. But I think I prefer the straight black to the blue tint.

Not that the BTAS design is bad or anything, mind you.

Welcome Batman Year One! I hope you fun during you stay here and that you have read the rules

Anywho, my vote is going to the JL Batman. I like the designs of all three, but the deeper blues and the longer ears really work for me.

I'd have to go with the TNBA design. The black is nice, suits his nocturnal activities, and the bat emblem is awesome. I don't know about fixed highlights, but I never paid that much attention to how he was drawn.

The JL design is nice, but I don't like the ears. It's not exactly that they're too long, but they're too far apart. They seem to angle out from his head, making it look weird.

The B:TAS design is okay, and I've heard stuff about non-fixed highlights that sound neat, but it just seems to old-fashioned. There's the blue in his costume, and the yellow emblem seems like it'd stand out too much.

But, all said, they all looked good.

The original is always best. BTAS for me. Actually the original isn't ALWAYS best..but you know what I mean.

The only new designs I liked in TNBA were scarecrow, pengiun, and...Bane...well and Batgirl. Hmmm. I gues TNBA had it's share of good designs. Over all, I think BTAS had the most good ones though. Too bad they couldn't mix and match...

The worst TNBA designs by far were Riddler (gag!) and Joker. I loved the BTAS design for Riddler. He actually looked cool.

The BTAS Batman design was my favorite.
