Hamill is the voice I hear when I read Joker in the comics.

One thing we need to put in context is that the voice acting in B:TAS was far different from what we were used to when it comes to superhero cartoons. The over-the-top, hammy acting from the '60s-'80s DC shows would not have worked or been appropriate for this film noir-esque show. They needed something a bit more understated, a bit subtler. They needed actors who sounded like real people (with a couple exceptions, of course, like Hamill's Joker). But they didn't take it too far in the opposite direction, either. Batman could've easily been a boring monotone, but Kevin Conroy gave him plenty of nuances that made him engaging to listen to.

I've always thought highly of the voices and voice acting in the DCAU shows, including B:TAS. They're even the voices I hear when I read some of the comics.
