Sure it does, but I guess that the impression from your earlier post was that you were doggin this thread a little! This thread is fun! And I hate useless posts on normal threads to. Please, you all, unless you have nothing more to add than "I agree" or "I disagree," don't post! Nothing more aggrivating to go and read a thread you've been contributing to to find somebody has posted a reply that is basically meaningless.

I made my 100th post known on the old boards too. People there thought about it, too, but perhaps some weren't so obsessive about it. Watching your post go from 100 to 200 to 300 and so on is like watching your spedometer turn over all those zeroes. It isn't just on these boards: people like seeing zeroes after numbers!

Funny how Inque got unfairly dogged for replying a bunch of times inna row, and calhoun7 does it. Will the oddities ever end. Anyways, I suppose it is a great feeling to see that post number get larger and larger. There's a sort of dignity that comes with it, that you're actually replying and making yourself heard.

Well Inque was the first one to do it and now others have started to it's not such a big deal anymore

It is rather annoying but I'm assuming it's just 'cause they're too lazy to copy and paste each thing they want to reply too. Kind of a hassle to do so too. So it's all right when they're doing that....just not when it's posts not replying to several different things that they need to quote from

And rather than copy and paste a bunch of things from different posts and reply to three or four things in one post, I feel it esteems and respects the original poster more to reply to their post ALONE. Lazy I ain't! And boosting my numbers to feel important I ain't! I reject your stereo types!

I'm solidly with calhoun07 on this. After all, that's the way it was done on the old boards, where replies branched off from each other. The only reason it's a hassle on this board is because we haven't the same tree-like structure so you can see at a glance how posts relate to other posts.

Maybe we should cultivate new habits now, but I think it's a perfectly legitimate and reasonable way to proceed.

Anyway, as for this thread: I like the comparison to a chat room. It's. . .

The branching is the biggest thing I miss about this board. I wish there was someway we could've kept it or brought it back without chewing up massive server space.

After over 400 posts here, more than I ever imagined on the old boards, I have to say I am finally getting used to the new format! It does take time, and sometimes I miss the branching, but you get used to it.
