    Joker: The Last Laugh

    Like This Thread!
What does everyone think of this October crossover? I mean, the idea of a Joker-fied villian is sorta cool annd far-fetched. But the pics of a Joker Two-Face is sorta cool. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, head t the news page (http://wf.toonzone.net/wfnews). It's the head story of the day with cover pics, comic synopsis, and a checklist. THis could be BIG. Thoughts?

I think it looks awesome as long as the Joker doesn't really die. I have heard that he won't so it will probably be a good read.

I can't see DC killing off the best villian ever created (yes, better than Dr. Doom). I just think his death scare is just a prank by a fellow Slab inmate. Still, the crossover does show promise. I know the October solixciations have already been released, but I'll be spotlighting more issues tomorrow on the newspage. (Plug, Plug) There's no way DC would kill off a great villian, then again they have been bumping off some DCU heroes...

I still say that this would make for an excellent season long story arc for Justice League Animated.

I think the Joker is really being over used lately. They should really give the guy a rest for awhile, it's getting to the point where it's ridiculous. A friend of mine and I were having a discussion about this recently... the Joker works the best when you don't see him for awhile, and then you bring him back and have him do something really freaking crazy.

Case in point, No Man's Land. That story was great because you had Joker lurking behind the scenes for a long time, and then at the end is that unforgettable scene where he kills Sarah Essen, and Gordon contemplates shooting Joker dead, then blows off the clown's kneecap. At this point, DC should have said, "Okay, no more Joker stories for at least a year." But instead, Joker showed up in an issue of Superman very soon after that, with his knee somehow fixed and no mention of the injury (someone please correct me on that if I'm wrong, I don't think the knee issue was ever addressed again). Then, after that, Joker showed up in Superman yet again with the whole Emperor Joker storyline, which, despite critical acclaim, I thought was way too far fetched, and didn't enjoy it much at all. There was that really awful "It's Joker Time" mini series, where Joker is forced to watch some kind of Jerry Springer knock-off show at Arkham that turns him into babbling idiot and runs on a mindless rampage (who wrote that, Hilary Bader?), a Joker/Mask crossover, an appearance in Harley Quinn's new series (don't get me started on that), Joker's recent appearance in Legends of the Dark Knight teamed with R'as Al Ghul, and I'm sure there's a lot more that isn't even coming to mind right now. And now, all the DC villains become "Jokerfied!"

It's to the point where it' like, "Oh, there he is again," when it should be like it was in NML... "Oh, man, it's Joker, we're in for some seriously messed up stuff now!!!"

This is the guy who killed Jason Todd and crippled Barbara. To be even remotely realistic? Batman should have killed him long ago. Yeah, I know, Batman doesn't kill. But after popping Sarah Essen, reshaping the freaking universe in Emperor Joker, and the 1,000 times he's escaped, Batman needs to kill the Joker in order to move on and grow as a character. For him to just cart Joker back to Arkham at the end of a story is silly at this point. He gets out and causes mayhem several times a year now. DC needs to either give the clown an extended stay in Arkham until we've had a chance to let the ink dry on one Joker story before moving on to the next, or, preferably, having Batman snap his neck and send him to the big loony bin in the sky.

I agree, somewhat. The most interesting aspect of the Bats/Joker relationship is that no matter how much the Joker pushes him Bats refuses to cross that line he set for himself years ago. If he did kill him then what? He'd just start killing every villian. That's why Azreal got boring, he was psycho. Bats talents and abilities would make probably one the most proficient killers in the world. Why would he need to rely on his intellect, cunning, or skill to catch crooks if all he's going to do is murder them?

I really hope DC gives Joker a rest after this. He's been a pretty pre-dominant charatcer for the past two years, and he's just wearing a bit thin. This LAST LAUGH thing I hope will be the last Joker story we get for awhile. On the plus side, AZRAEL is losing more and more readers every month, so hopefully it won't be too long before his title is axed.

I think it's possible that Joker will die once all is laughed. I mean, the writers of the Batbooks are taking chances now. They kicked Gordon out, for Pete's sake.

It'd be an interesting turn of events. However, Legends will then probably be filled with Joker stories.

I'm going to get the mini and the Secret Files and the crossovers into books I read, but there's no way I'm getting every DCU title in October (I already get way too many comics).

How is Joker suppose to die? I know he's suppose to die in this, but how is he gonna die, even thought he probably won't?
    *Spoilers*

Specter trys to rid Joker of his madness, but ends up trying to stop the darkness from his past... Parallx. Does anyone think that the Specter will win?
This is very similar to the suggestion put forward by the Quirmian philosopher Ventre, who said, "Possibly the gods exist, and possibly they do not. So why not believe in them in any case? If it's all true you'll go to a lovely place when you die, and if it isn't then you've lost nothing, right?" When he died he woke up in a circle of gods holding nasty-looking sticks and one of them said, "We're going to show you what we think of Mr Clever Dick in these parts..."
