Something Odd About "Return of the Joker"

    Like This Thread!
Is it just me, or were the writers playing Final Fantasy VI at the time?

Hmm...an insane clown rips a city apart with a giant beam of light...hmmm...sounds like the Light of Judgement to me...now if only Mr. J would don a pink plume...*g*

Actually, I believe that scene was inspired by the scenes from Akira in which a laser weapon in orbit is used to cause some massive destruction in the city. Dini has mentioned that Akira was an influence in the Batman Beyond world they created.

"With my feet upon the ground, I lose myself between the sounds
And open wide to suck it in, I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out, I'm reaching for the random, or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
    Spiral out. Keep going"

Actually, in the commentary track, one of the people mentioned that it was the same person who animated the "light scene"in Akira (something to the effect of he wanted to see if he can top what he did in Akira).

Actually, it seems to be a wonderful cliche that has been coincidentally done already in at least three prior productions.

Final Fantasy VI rocks! One of the greatest stories ever told... Am I the only person who thinks that the storyline from Final Fantasy VI would make an awesome movie trilogy, "Star Wars" or "Lord of The Rings" style?
