I have been trying to tell people this on a constant basis when they ask me why I can't stand frank miller. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

I'm actually excited about this movie though, since I always consider it a step in the right direction to adapt things as faithfully as possible. Two movies means more in depth plots. Maybe one day we get an R rated movie (I won't hold my breath).

IMDb.com page for B:TDKR, Pt. 1 is now active.

The page went active yesterday. I immediately submitted an update to the status as 'filming'. I also submitted Michael Ironside as the (rumored) voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne--although, I don't know how a previous poster possibly intuited that from a few pieces of footage with no sound. You can find the page here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2313197/

A fan complimented Conroy on the subtleties of his jaded, older Bruce Wayne from "Batman Beyond" and asked if Conroy had been approached for the role in a "Dark Knight Returns" animated movie.

Conroy and Strong, both acted surprised about news of an animated take on Frank Miller's classic, looking down the panel at Bruce Timm for clues.

"No one's told me anything," Conroy added.

"Well, that makes me incredibly angry," said the fan.

"Well, it should," said Conroy playfully, with the crowd obviously agreement.

well, anytime we cast someone other than Kevin as batman, there will always be a certain number of dissatisfied customers -- it's a given -- but this time, I gotta say, I think we've hit it out of the park, with bases loaded

Frankly its for the best anyway... I don't want Kevin anywhere near Frank Miller dialogue.

I think you guys have done an awesome job with the other Batman's (Ironically the Conroy-sounding Greenwood being the best). But I think you and Andrea Romano should give Kevin a little more to do.

Give him a different part, he's always saying how he wants to do character voices. He has sadly been type-cast in the voice over world.

Agreed, not a fan of DKR, though I must admit, I would love to hear it coming out Diedrich Bader's Bats

I'd like Michael Ironside, of course Clint Eastwood would be the main choice but he wouldn't do it.

Tim Curry as The Joker? That would be cool! A taste of what would have been maybe.

Tim Curry was originally cast as the Joker for BTAS and even recorded a few episodes before the producers decided it just wasn't working.

He was originally cast as The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, and actually recorded a few episodes.

However, the producers (or some higher-ups) decided he was just a little too dark and might scare the kids. On top of that he was a heavy smoker, so couldn't keep the big long laughs going without coughing his lungs up.

All things concerned they let him go, auditioned Mark Hamill and the rest is history...

I had heard somewhere that he had auditioned for the role in TAS but was too dark even for that. That would fit perfectly in this world.

If WB/DC brought back Michael Ironside as Batman and Tim Curry as The Joker in The Dark Knight Returns, then brought back Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as The Joker in The Killing Joke, they'd have two of the best cast Batman films ever.

Here's an update from Bill Dunn
After completion of "Batman: The Brave and the Bold", I worked on the animated adaption of Frank Miller's classic, "The Dark Knight Returns". The DVD movie will be released in two parts. This is a first for the Warner Bros DTVs. My part of the production was to color script the entire movie. This (I believe) is also a first for the Warner Bros DTVs. Part one is totally done and it looks amazing. I think fans of the book will be very pleased.
Wow, I guess they'll screen Part One at SDCC 2012.
