    Fresh Question #72: Best Animation

    Like This Thread!
Hey everyone, sorry about the lateness of the FQ's, I had some comp trouble this morning. Here's the next Question:

What is the one episode that has the animation you would want an entire season of Batman Beyond to be done by?

well, imo season 1's animation was top notch, then it was all down hill. and although i liked season 3 better than most of season 2, its animation was pretty bad compared to some season 1 &2 eps. i mean "out of the past" was one of the best episodes of the series, but the animation was soooo far behind the story. But "Rebirth" had great animation, so i wish the enitre series was done like that (most of it was actually). "Ascension" also had some great animation, and for season 2, i think "earth mover" had some nice animation. season 3, hmm, i wasnt too impressed at all with the animation, but there were good moments, like the battle scene in the truck on the highway in "big time" (i think it was big time, if not then it was "betrayl". well thats mo!!! peace.

I thought OUT OF THE PAST had great animation. I agree about the lackluster animation in season 2. Only a few stick out as well done. EYEWTINESS for one, HIDDEN AGEND and LOST SOUL as well. Season 3 had the afore mentioned OOTP and I thought KINGS RANSOM was also very nicely done.

hmmm...well, anybody notice the crappy animation in "Shadows"? Oh wait..that's Zeta..everything is crappy in that show...

Anyway, lets see.. not to copy DG, but my oppinions are with him. I'm not animation expert, but, I thought Meltdown looked great...as did Eyewitness!

I was going through my old TAS comics the other day...great animation in those...and I do mean, GREAT!

i just really found the season 3 animation to be really cheap. there was little to no detail on anything (using out of the past as an example, look at the shot of "new cuba". also, look at the compound when it blows up.). I also found that in season 3 the facial expressions weren't as clear, and unless it was an up-close shot of the face, the facial features were very unclear and sloppy. plus talia was animated sloppy and out of proportion in that ep, especially in the batcave. it just seemed like everything got more sloppy and there was no attention to detail. just compare season 1 shots of buildings in gotham city and season 3 ones. the season 3 ones are really poorly designed and not as detail oriented or clear (as far as features) as the season 1 ones. but i guess these are little things, but i get bugged by them cause i'm freaking obsessed with this stuff. but the one thing i will say about the season 3 animation is it was consistant. there wasnt beautifully animated eps and then horribly animated ones (like in season 2), it all stayed at that kind of descent, but less detail oriented and slightly sloppy animation. but thats just mo!

any Inque episode had great animation......they should animate everything with the care that it took to animate her.

    I agree with Derek Powers

I rewatched Out of the Past. While the story is spectacular the animation was definitely sloppy. Sometimes stories are so good you don't notice it. For example I was rewatching Perchance to Dream (BTAS) the animation in that episode is horrible. Movements seem very akward and even the coloring seems to be messed up. But I still love it. Season 1 definitely had the best animation. Rebirth was the best no question. One major advantage Anime has is the consistency in its animation. The only time I've seen consistency is the Batman and Robin Animated Series. And that's because there was so few episodes.

Oh and Season 2 sucked. The animation in the first appearance of Zeta is so bad I might argue that the animation in the first episode of the Zeta series is beter.

4 words Final Cut: Museam scene.

That one part where Terry is shooting at Curare and she's just flying up those models dodging them and stuff. Was that like 10 second piece CG or not?

I know that this is a tad off subject, but the worst animation was "Cat Scratch Fever" in BTAS. Bats looked boated (fat) and slow. Everything about that episode sucked.
