"Young Justice (Animated Series)" News & Discussion Thread, Part 8 (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!
Watch Young Justice Fridays at 7:00pm (ET), and Sundays at 8:00pm (ET) on Cartoon Network!

    Series Description:
Young Justice - In Young Justice, being a teenager means proving yourself over and over—to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you’re not just a normal teenager? What if you’re a teenage super hero? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you’re worthy of the Justice League? That’s exactly what the members of Young Justice — Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis—will find out, whether they have what it takes to be a proven hero. This all-new series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based upon characters from DC Comics. Sam Register (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold) is the executive producer. Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman Doomsday, The Batman) and Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man, W.I.T.C.H.) are the producers.

About the Light's objectives from the end of the last thread:

You're forgetting the Ice-themed villain attack from episode one, AND the attack in Tokyo bay(?) that distracted Aquaman from Atlantis in 'Downtime", presuming both of those were orchestrated by the Light.

The attack in Downtime was obviously just to get Aquaman's attention, but we still don't know the reasons behind the Ice-themed attack from the first episode.

Note that only Young Justice was a repeat while the other series were all new eps. Good ratings for Young Justice slightly below Batman new ep and higher than Generator Rex.

Good to see Young Justice doing so well. This is also proof that CN made the right decision to air the first 9 episodes early, rather than waiting for more to finish, until they got started.

I thought the Ice-themed attack was a test run of how the Justice League would react to coordinated attacks and the Light gathered relevant data. So after that attack, they incorporated their findings to planning the attempted Starro theft in "Downtime." It sounds like they planned a similar coordinated attack in at least Tokyo, to which Superman and Aquaman responded to. The latter's departure left enough of a strategic advantage for Black Manta's team to raid the science center.

While that's a perfectly good guess, Greg Weisman did say that the reason behind the ice-themed attack in the pilot would be explicitly revealed down the road. So not only is it probably not something we have to "guess at", but whatever the reason is will probably be a big enough reveal to merit Weisman's comment in the first place.

That's cool. I didn't even know it was going to be revealed.

I brought this up in the other thread, that I believe they are definitely testing the League. I'm pretty sure Batman and possibly Robin are onto most of this seeing how they disappeared for an entire ep, particularly the dealing with the League of Shadows.

They also must be planning a massive takeover either of the human race, or creating their own superpowered species. Which of course ties into the venom, cloning, and Starro.

Batman & Robin were in the League of Shadows episode, "Infiltrator". The one that Robin wasn't in was "Denial". And funnily enough Greg recently explained Robin's absence.

They're definitely planning something that involves mind-control since Cadmus' Genomorphs proved it's something they can do. Not to mention one was able to infiltrate their base and mind whammy Superboy.

Hmm, thanx for the link. Yeah, I couldn't remember the ep name, but that explains it. As for the mind control, we will wait and see what else they have up their sleeve. Seeing Psimon and Queen Bee confirms this, I have a feeling we might be seeing Dr. Light before too long.

    Mind control-
    Cadmus
    Starro
    Queen Bee
    Psimon

    Canon fodder-
    Kobra
    League of shadows

    Power enhancement/manipulation-
    Kobra venom
    A.M.A.Z.O.?
    The Fog (hacking)

    Mystic arts-
    Klarion
    Madame Xanadu

Perhaps it would be a boon to show their earnestness to cooperate with Darkseid by neutralizing the Justice League, the world governments, and military along with keeping the human race at large under control through mind control and super-powered enforcers all in anticipation of an impending alien invasion. In exchange, Darkseid would "deputize" the Light into warlords and let them rule over their own "territories," safe from the forces of Apokolips.

Again, interesting to include Klarion, in light of his status as Lord of Chaos. I don't think he's involved, much less cares about the Light nor Darkseid but letting him play around with what's left of Earth after the invasion seems like a shoe-in.

Was Klarion involved with the Light? I thought that was one of the few non-Light related episodes...

I don't think so but I would guess that the fans that do would use the example of Cadmus from JLU tasking Task Force X with stealing the Annihilator, a weapon of mythological-mystic origins. But we all know how long that lasted. So far it doesn't seem like the Light gives a hoot about magic and more about science and technology.

It looks like the May 6th airing is another rerun.
