    Favorite Superman Episode

    Like This Thread!
What is your favorite ep.? Mine would have to be "The Late Mr. Kent" or something like that. It was great how the guy realized who Clark was right before he gets gassed. Now I want to know what yours was.

    Good pick & Welcome!

Hey, welcome to the boards. I just recently rewatched that episode and was in awe of it, especially since that is an episode that can't be done today. Amazing the difference a few years makes, hunh? I'm a big fan of the APOKOLIPS SAGA eps (as Dini calls them) which are TOOLS OF THE TRADE, FATHER'S DAY, APOKOLIPS' NOW, LITTLE GIRL LOST, LEGACY. Neat sidenote, Dini pursued to get these eight episodes released as an 'Apokolips' themed set. Another episode I dig is THE PROMOTHEON. Beautiful animation by TMS and just a neat script.

since we're talking superman and i just love the parasite, i think i'll use the color of his skin/suit/body....

there we go..... the parasite is just my favorite character on the show. naturally any 3 of the parasite episodes is my favorite..that includes "feeding time", that episode where he teams up with livewire, and his other one where he has to help superman find a bomb in the city.

    Re: Favorite Superman Episode

My faorite Superman episodes are the first few that comprise the pilot. The episodes from Krypton's destruction to Superman telling Luthor that he'll "be watching him" after puting the Lexo-suit out of commission.

My favorite moments, from that bunch of episodes, were; young Clark discovering he can fly and accepting the truth about his origins, when Lois and Clark meet at The Planet, and the fight between Superman and Corben in the Lexo-suit. I thought all the action sequences were done very well. Superman was animated with a lot of grace and character, especially in the flight scenes. And the way the Lexo-suit was animated gave it a sence of weight and presence. I love the part where the suit, ejects a used, smoking, grenade shell, that sraches through the windshield of a squad car.

    On a similar note.....

"Superman's Pal" was the worst episode by far. Lousy story and bad animation to boot. Who thought an episode built around Jimmy Olsen was a good idea?

I guess I liked Apokolips now the most. Especially for that haunting piano tune during Turpin's funeral.
That and the Mxyzptlk episodes are pretty funny.
Superman's Pal was a weak episode, but I loved the introduction of Jimmy's signal watch at the end. Even though he only got to use it like once throughout the series heh.

    Wow.

When I saw the title for this thread, one episode jumped immeditately to mind. Sure, I liked/loved the Apokolips stories and the guest -star episodes were all fun. But there was only one that truly stood out for me and I was sure that no one else would even remember it.

    The Prometheon.

And yet, two posts into this thread, someone else mentions it. Yay. Aside from the too-easy ending, this was such a superb episode -- perhaps because it was (arguably) the only Superman episode in the whole run of fifty-four. What do I mean by that? Well, once you get through all of the origin eps and guest star eps and the Lois stories and the Jimmy stories and the first appearance of any villain and . . . well, you get the point . . . there are just no episodes where Superman is the true star. C'mon, how many times did Batman guest star on Superman? And how many times did Superman guest on Batman? I thought so.

The Prometheon truly showcased the Man of Steel instead of his supporting cast or guest stars (although the Prof. really saves the day, I guess), which is why it's my favorite. Glad to see at least one other person thinks so.

Big fan of the Darkseid saga too. Apokolips now and Legacy worked especially well. The ending of Legacy is just... chilling.

I haven't seen all the Superman episodes. but I've seen most of them. I loved "Double Dose", "Knight Time", all the Mxyzptlk episodes, and that one where Luminus kidnaps Lois and Jimmy(can't remember the title). What else....hm. I guess that's it for now.

    Hi everyone!

My favorite episode was "Brave New Metropolis". First of all, I am a sucker for alternate dimensions, so this was a treat for me. Second, I liked some f the issues examined. We got a glimpse into how deeply Superman really cares for Lois, and we also see how desparate he can be to keep peace, even willing to team up with a for enemy and turning Metropolis into a military state. At the same time, former friends (like Jimmy) turned into enemies. It was nice to see Lois help Supes to his senses and get him to start to undo the damage he did. A wonderful episode.

Here are some of my other favorites, in no particular order.

    1. "The Late Mr. Kent"--It was Clark Kent's turn to shine as he investigates to free a framed prisoner.

    2. "Apokolips...Now" Parts 1 & 2--A great Darkseid episode plus the tragic death of Dan Turpin. Really emotional.

    3. "Last Son of Krypton" Parts 1-3--This is how it all started. Well done.

    4. "Legacy" Parts 1 & 2--How it all ends. The world turning on Supes and more Darkseid. Brilliant.

    5. "World's Finest" Parts1-3--A team-up with Batman. Cool!

    6. "Knight Time"--Supes mascarades as Batman. Some great characterization here.

    7. "The Demon Reborn"--Another Batman team-up and Ra's Al Gual. Great!

    8. "Little Girl Lost" Parts 1 & 2--The debut of Supergirl and more Darkseid. Cute!

    9. "Where There's Smoke"--I just like Volcana. A cool villainess.

    10. "Ghost in the Machine"--A great insight into Lex Luthor and Merci. Poor lady!

Now here are my unfavorites, in no particular order.

    1. "Livewire"--I can't stand her!

    2. "Solar Power"--I don't like Luminus, either.

    3. "Fun and Games"--Another lame villain: Toyman!

    4. "The Promethian"--I don't like the monster.

    5. "Double Dose"--More Livewire! Yuck! But Parasite was cool, though.

I know! You all are shocked right now! "Superman's Pal" didn't make my worst list. True, the animation was off par, the music was lousy (I absolutely hate that piano score), and the continuity was bad (Metallo mysteriously got his skin back), but it had its merits. It was nice to see a story featuring Jimmy, a character who I thought was sorely underused througout the show. As said in a post above, his signal watch was introduced. It also tried to be comedic, and I think that deserves some credit. I agree it could have been much better, but it wasn't that bad.

The same goes for "Monkey Fun" and "Unity". I actually enjoyed both of these. They had some neat concepts, and I thought they were carried out well. These are not terrible, either.

On the whole, I thought Superman was a well-done and enjoyable series. It is right up ther iwth Batman. I wish it was still going with new episodes yet. Curse the WB!

    Have a super day!

    The ending of "Legacy"...

...has to be one of my favorite and most memorable scenes, with my favorite quote: "I am many things...but here, I am God." My second favorite quote is in this episode as well: "No one man should have that much power." (Ironically Lex himself says this.) I was actually on the edge of my seat saying, "Yes! Yes! Kill Darkseid! Crush the life from him!" Another memorable moment would be Ma Kent vomiting up that alien tentacle in "Unity". What a sight to see at breakfast.
I like anything with pathos, really, and I like something that makes me think. For example, in"Ghost in the Machine", I was left to wonder if Mercy is simply Luthor's bodyguard, or does she serve a more--ahem--carnal role to Metropolis' most powerful mogul? I got the impression she'd do anything for the man who picked her up out of the gutter of Suicide Slum.
I also enjoy comedic moments, like the cut in "The Main Man" to Lobo belching after the professor ponders the presence of intelligent life in the universe--not to mention that Lobo is a dead ringer for Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Also the shot of Lois' dress billowing up as Superman flies past her, and the look on her face as she does a Marilyn Monroe pose, in "Superman's Pal"...or the entire "Mxyzptlked" ep (a month called "Pants"; the way Mxy's girlfriend smashes a plate over his head for ignoring her)...or the girls' hilarious catfight in the background while Luthor and Joker talk in "World's Finest".
HARLEY: [watching JOKER's airship blow up in midair over the bay]: PUDDIN'!
BATMAN: At this point, he probably is.
