Darkseid in Alive and Destroyer.....how did he come back?
Someone help me out here......
How did Darkseid come back and where did he come from?
I can understand Brainiac's programming and essence or something floating in space. Lex using Tala as a magical conduit to pull it all together, I can buy that. What I dont understand where he came from?
Also Darkseid was never dead, so where was his he this whole time??
-
He was dead, he died in Twilight, many people including the creators have stated that here and in interviews, and on the recently released DVD. All that color in space where he was revived is his essence. He also stated he died at Superman's hand as well. So all the tech that Luthor had and Tala as a magical conduit resurrected it.

Darkseid said "Superman nearly killed me......." then something about destroying Earth. Doesnt nearly killed me mean he didnt die?
Which DVD was there discussions from the creators that said the essence of Darkseid? I watched the DVD extras and never see that part. Pls let me know.

Darkseid actually says "Only by the slimmest chances have I been able to return after my death at the hands of SUperman." In the last disc with the mini commentaries, watch the Alive! commentary, The say that the colors are Darkseid's essence. They also joke how his insides look pretty. In JL season 2, the commentary on Twilight, Bruce Timm is very adamant that Darkseid died there.

The actual line is "But first, Superman must pay for killing me", so yes, he did indeed die in the explosion in Twilight. He was resurrected by Tala, possibly as an act of revenge against Lex for choosing Brainiac over her.
Woman scorned, and all that...

I'll watch it tonight. Thanks!

Darkseid's return was a major surprise when I was watching the DVDs. I had no idea and had really expected Brainiac to return. That was an awesome moment.

Don't forget that just before Darkseid bought the farm in "Twilight", he used his Mother Box to corrupt Brainiac's technology (an extension of Brainiac himself). So the remnants of Brainiac that Luthor was trying to reconstitute were already corrupted by Darkseid's essence. Essentially, Luthor resurrected the wrong bad guy by mistake.

I'm always so happy for someone when I hear that they were actually surprised by the surprise moments. Spoilers are hard to avoid these days.
I just watched that episode with my sister last Sunday, and she had no idea Darkseid was coming back. She, too, expected to see Brainiac's return. I was very happy that she didn't remember me telling her about the finale.

Yeah, I never saw most of JL and JLU during their initial runs, so my first viewing of most episodes where on DVD. Fortunately, I hadn't read many--if any--spoilers, so I had a lot of twists and surprises waiting me. Only one I can remember knowing beforehand was Shayera's betrayal in Starcrossed, but that did little to deter my enjoyment of it.

I would have really loved to see a hybrid of Darkseid and Braniac as we saw a hybrid of Lex and Braniac. Imagine if Darkseid had attacked Earth with the knowledge of Braniac AND the Dark Heart technology apart of him? Wow!
Would have been even more climactic if somehow they transported Jax-Ur and Mala from the black hole as Darkseid's minions and 2nd in command. All of them wind up killing off Highfather and Orion before the rest of the New Gods, the rest of the Corps and the League and LoD kill them off. Or have Darkseid use his omega beam to transport Doomsday back from the Phantom Zone.

Good grief...
Wouldn't that be a little crowded?
