Have not seen this posted here yet, but the new Toyfare ( #108 ) has a two page article on the cancellation of both JLU and Teen Titans; most of it is info we already know well ( That most action shows get only 52 episodes, and TT had 65 and JL/JLU had 91 ) and that they felt both shows "needed a rest". Now, "needed a rest" at least kinda implies that the Powers That Be recognize both of these shows as successes and will likely ressurect them both at some point in some way. Most likely Teen Titans could get a rebranding similar to the switch from Batman: The Animated Series to the New Adventures. It was also mentioned that Direct to DVD is something they are seriously looking into ( I assume they mean with JLU as Teen Titans is already getting one ). They briefly interview Bruce Timm about what a Season 4 of JLU would have consisted of, and it seems they only had a really vague notion. One idea was a season long arc of the JLU lost in time, meeting several DCU characters from various points in history. Another Idea was doing a whole season set in the Batman Beyond future ( although that to me sounds like a whole other series than JLU ) A "Time Travel" season would have been a bit too gimmicky in my book, but a JLU Beyond Series might have been cool. ( Although If I were to do it, I would make it take place roughly 10 years or so after JLU, maybe a few years before Bruce retires his Batman persona and is wearing an amalgam of the Beyond Suit and his JLU outfit. Superman and Wonder Woman would be the same, obviously ageless, and maybe a new GL and Flash. BT feel free to steal this idea for the future lol ) The article mentions Legion of Super Heroes and possibly Plastic Man as replacment" shows, but shoots down the rumor of a Doom Patrol series. And since this Is Toyfare magazine, they do stress that the JLU action figure line WILL continue on into 2007, show or no show.

Very good info Lestat74. Thanks!
A JL DTV (or JLU) and more TT DTV would be awesome. I agree about the ammount of episodes of each show, they got pretty much more episodes than any other regular show gets. I wish we do get new series (not talking about LOSH!), more toy lines from the new shows and more DTVs. After all its more money for those involved with the shows!![]()
COSTA RICA: NO ARTIFICIAL INGREDIENTS.
I don't think they should bring Teen Titans back for another season. DTVs, yes, but not more regular episodes. Season five wasn't as good as the others, overall. They should definitely make a few DTVs focusing on Slade, though.
As for JLU, I missed half the third season, so I'll reserve judgement until I see the rest of the episodes. The last two were great, though.

Hot dang, both of those ideas for a fourth season sounded amazing enough. What could have been.
No Doom Patrol but possibly a Plastic Man series? Hmm. Hmm. I guess that rumor just got more realistic.

Hopefully DTVs do happen, for both shows,
TT did need a rest, if it came back in a different way it would be neat though, JLU ideas for S4 are neat, i'm sure it would have beena great season, maybe the BB future JL would have been the better idea,
DTV's seem to be the right way to go, if TT and JLU are to continue. I'm just getting a little to old to stay home on a Saturday night and watch cartoons (although when I did, it was always vastly rewarding)
As long as a JLU movie would be light years better than BA, I'll be happy.
Interesting that JLU Beyond was an idea for a 4th season. I hope that idea is being kept alive a backburner, I'd love to see more of that time period. Plus, of all the ideas it would probably be the easiest to resurrect after a "break." There would be a lot of new faces, and likely a rebranding and seeing the previous JL/U seasons wouldn't be as necessary. Thus, it would be easier for the audience to jump into.
In fact, it might be better to wait a little bit and start JLU Beyond fresh as a new series pick-up rather than doing it right out of JLU as a Season 4. (That's definitely not to say that it couldn't refer back to the rest of the DCAU at points).
Saw the magazine today. Makes me hope there's more DCAU down the road. Would have really loved to have seen a Beyond season of JLU.
Thing that bugs me is that while I know ratings aren' t the only thing that keeps a animated show on the air, I though the merchandising was pretty strong, with new waves of JLU figures coming out, Batman Begins and Superman Returns keping DC high in public profile, and so forth. And while I can't point to specifics, my understanding was that the box sets for DCAU have done pretty good.
One can only hope that Timm and his colleagues will be able to have the chance to continue this great ride in one form or another in the not-so distant future.
Personally, when Justice League became JLU, I thought they'd definitely end it connecting to Beyond, since the league's name in Beyond is Justice League Unlimited (JLU). I wanted to see that. At least we saw Warhawk again in Once and Future Thing.
