The JL appearances on other shows--will they come to DVD?

    Like This Thread!
If this thread was already started I apologize for doing this one.

It's great that BTAS, STAS, JL & BB have come to DVD in season sets but it left me wondering. What about the episodes of Static Shock that guest starred Batman, Superman, Green Lantern & the Justice League? Or that episode of the Zeta Project that Batman Beyond guest starred on? Will they be included in the box sets or released separately with a couple of other episodes. I haven't seen any new Static Shock DVD's so I wonder what will happen with these episodes.

Static Shock will probably have season releases, maybe starting in '07
I doubt the Zeta Project will though. I don't think this spin-off had many viewers to begin with and even fewer who'd be willing to purchase dvds. If anything the BB cameo on ZP may be featured as a bonus episode on an upcoming volume of Batman Beyond. Perhaps the Brain Trust ep as well.

I'd quite like to see the bonus episodes of The Zeta Project on a Batman Beyond DVD. I don't remember either of Batman's appearances on the show, and would kinda like to see them again.

I don't especially care about Static Shock however, I've found most of the crossovers to be pretty bad, and aren't losing sleep over not owning them on DVD.

well briefly, Zeta first appeared on a BB ep titled "Zeta", which led to the spin-off. Late in BB production (toward the end) and & in Season One of ZP, KWB had a xover day when the characters appeared on each others show. I don't believe they were part on the same story though. I think they were self-contained episodes. I remember one had Mad Stan attaching a time bomb to Zeta & the other had Batman chasing Zeta due to mistaken identity (a 2nd robot causing mayhem). Hopefully the BB cameo on ZP will be included as a bonus ep on BB Vol 4

I'd like to see each series released on dvd, and I think they probably will be. I mean, Batman is already available, and Superman & Justice League will be out in June. Batman Beyond has already started, and JLU can't be far behind. It just seems like the logical next steps would be Static Shock & The Zeta Project. And not just for the fans that already exist out there; I work in a video store where the Batman boxed sets rent like mad, and they've started in on Justice League & Batman Beyond now. I wasn't a huge fan of Static Shock, but I would love to see the entire series; I enjoyed all the crossover episodes, especially the Batman Beyond one. I've never seen Zeta except in his Batman Beyond appearances, but I'd love to see that entire series as well. I think the only things not likely to be released on DVD, and I hope I'm wrong here, are the Gotham Girls/Lobo Webisodes. I enjoy the DCAU as a whole - JL/JLU being my favorite, and I like to think that all the other shows give JL/JLU that much more depth...

    Ok. I'm tired.

Totally disagree. A League of Their Own was much more entertaining than I'd anticipated, and from the sounds of it, Fallen Hero is pretty good too.

I'm pretty much hoping for a DCAU crossover DVD release, with the SS episodes on it, and maybe if folks around here mention it enough, those Zeta project episodes. WB doesn't seem to be too big on releasing "extra episodes" on their DVD volumes, or we'd have seen some by now.

I thought A League of Their Own was nothing more than an attempt to make Static feel big whilst making the League look like a bunch of amaterus. Static saving the day three times was just laughable. It also goes against Static's character of being the underdog - if he's the underdog, he wouldn't solve everything as easily as he did. I admit I don't care for Static Shock at all, but I still thought that episode was poor, even though I really liked Justice League.

Haven't seen Fallen Hero or the Batman Beyond crossovers, but the two Batman and Superman crossovers ranged from poor to absoloutly terrible, in my opinion.

Yeah, the Batman Beyond crossover wasn't memorable for me, neither was the bit of the Harley/Ivy or first Joker episode either. And that Batman synth soundtrack? Yuk!

But, A League of Their Own managed not to make it seem like Static was superior to the League, saving the universe or anything. Did I tire of Batman constantly praising him and telling him his secret identity and that he'd be a part of the League someday or the Titans? Absolutely.

I totally agree. I think a Crossover Collection would be a great way to wrap up all of our boxed sets, especially for people who don't want to invest in the entire runs of both Static and Zeta for 8 episodes.

They're apart of the continuity... for better or worse, and I want them all. They should have a Crossover disc for those that only want said crossovers, but I want the entire seasons released (I never really liked Static, but maybe age has given me a different perspective, and I completely missed out on Zeta...)

I'd rather have season sets. Static Shock has plenty of good episodes beyond the crossover episodes. Hard as Nails is my favorite crossover but it's also one of my favorites overall.

Why not just keep releasing shows like Static Shock as they did the first release? Six episodes on a disc and inexpensive. This would make the whole show available to fans like myself and allow crossover-only fans to cherry pick only the volumes they wanted.

Or release the show in simple season sets like they've done with Teen Titans and The Batman. Again, crossover-only fans could just buy the seaons that they wanted. These sets are so cheap that would it really bother you to get a few extra non-crossover episodes? It's not like you'd have to watch them if you didn't want to.

By the way, if you've never seen the pilot for Static Shock, it's worth picking up the DVD.
