  • Well, Kid Flash and Flash are separate enough to allow the duplication.

  • It's not surprising, it's just the same as Batman and The Batman.

  • This is totally unfair! No Aquaman, Robin, Batgirl nor Nightwing, nor Batvillains, but two wallys!? Why do you torture us, WB!?

Embargos and Character Duplication: A new twist (Teen Titans Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!
    This is interesting.

At the end of tonight's Teen Titans, "The Brain" had images of the various Titans displayed on his video monitors. Among them, we got our first look at kid Flash. And between that costume and the Red hair, I dare say it is none other than Wally West.

Now this creates an interesting little situation, dontcha think? Wally is gonna be on JLU as the Flash and TT as the Kid Flash. Aside from putting the final nail in the coffin for the theory that TT Robin is Tim Drake in a back-handed way, it is also a pretty blatant example of character duplication. Which, as we all know, is a bad thing as far as WB is concerned.

So what gives? Why is "The Wally West of Two Shows" situation gonna be tolerated and other situations not? Is it because Flash/Kid Flash is so low profile? Is it just another example of hero duplicating, a la Batman? Or do they not even realize they are the same character?

    Very interesting...

I think it's because there is no Flash movie in production, unlike Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern.

Could just be Impulse... he would work great on the show. Much better imho then Wally, who we are getting enough of on JL.

    Re:

Given that Robin eventually became Nightwing in the future, and you had the alternate reality "Robin" come over (who's original name is Dick Grayson spelled backward), its been fairly evident that Robin in Teen Titans is Dick Grayson. So how exactly does this make the continuity a problem? Just means you have younger versions of both heroes is all.... May mean that Teen Titans takes place earlier than the formation of the Justice League is all.

I'm pretty sure Impulse wasn't a red head. At least, not from the pictures I've seen.

And TT Kid Flash is definatly a red head.

I'm not even sure what you are on about here...but what ever happened to a 'flash embargo'?! It isn't fair if only Batman characters are covered under an embargo umbrella!

You say you're not sure what I'm getting at, but then you act like you do. Basically: Part of the justification of Bat-embargos and Aqua-Embargos is to avoid character duplication, to keep confusion down. But Wally West on Both shows is a clear example of Character duplication. Seems like a double standard.

Oh, and I know it ain't gonna happen, but I'd love to have Michael Rosenbaum voice Kid Flash.:anime:

This is what I voted: "This is totally unfair! No Aquaman, Robin, Batgirl nor Nightwing, nor Batvillains, but two wallys!? Why do you torture us, WB!?" and it sums up the suits at WB perfectly. *Growls* Wally West now joins Clark Kent, Jonathan Kent, Martha Kent, Lois Lane, Perry White, and Lex Luthor in having multiple versions running about, while Batman and Aquaman suffered. I hate to say it, but this just confirms that th execs at WB are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites! This really ticks me off!

Actually, let's be fair: Batman does have two versions of himself running around.

It's just that no one Batman related does.

True, but I was referring to the rest of the Bat-characters. Sorry I didn't make it clearer.

Really? I hadn't heard that. Last I heard, they said "It would be obvious which Kid Flash it was," but they didn't come right out and say who. I guess you've heard more recent.

*Suddenly blushes at the realization that "OMG! Wally is on TT" might just be old news to everyone else. Ouch. *

But, if he is voicing his younger counterpart, well, that's pretty cool.:anime:

Whoa, if that's true than it could DEFINATELY be argued that Teen Titans is a prequel to Batman: The Animated Series after all. I don't care though . Unless we get some definate proof I ain't updating my DCAU timeline list to include Teen Titans. My brain would explode.

We've managed to wank Krypto into tentavite continuity, wouldn't it be awesome if we could do the same for Teen Titans? All we have to do is find a place for The Batman, Superfriends, Duck Dodgers, and Scooby Doo and we'll be rolling in ice cream and puppies!:anime:

Actually, there was a Flash movie announced well before anything was heard about an Aquaman movie. It's supposed to be written and directed by David S. Goyer, starring Ryan Reynolds.

It might depend on who's drawing him, but I've got my TPB of Teen Titans: A Kid's Game on my desk right now, and in those Mike McKone issues he's definitely a redhead.

Me, I'm still thinking it's Bart Allen.

There are seriously people who believe that TT and the DCAU are in the same continuity?

Somehow yes. They're kind of fun to listen to though. They try really hard to link things together.
