Without warning it appears that CN has the whole series and will start off with the first season starting Monday at 10:30 which means it will replace Jackie Chan Adventures in primetime.
This information comes from the site that cannot be named.

And just when I thought it was gone...poof, right on CN. Does it have to be on CN?
I'd assume Cartoon Network's schedule would say something about this.
Seeing as how it hasn't, why should I believe you?
Like what Hao said... I'm checking with Dwayne McDuffie Newsgroup if he got the 411...Originally Posted by Hao Asakura

Well it has been reportted that CN will air the series starting Monday it seems that it will not air for another few weeks seeing as how CN hasn't updatted their schedule yet; but then agian the schedule has been wrong before.

I think they just haven't updated the schedule at Cartoon Network.com yet. It's Friday evening, they probably want to get home.
I am going to COPY this over to The DCAU...er DCAF x_x. Cause theres no thread there, and this will save time, and another post to everyone! yay. =o
Awesome news. I love Static and hopefully this will lead to an additional season or three. But then again, Dwayne is very busy with JLU and I'm not sure I'd want to see it continued without his supervision. Not to say that I wouldn't watch it, but I'd feel more comfortable with Mr. McDuffie. working on it.
Static reached 52. Highly unlikely it will get anymore.
I wonder how the other site was able to get the news faster than this one???
Anyway, I am really happy to see Static on CN. I wonder if this will lead to new seasons or a completly new series considering that unlike Batman Beyond the crew behind the series hasn't really gone to different projects just yet.
If ratings are good it is anybody's guess. Besides there was a spinoff or two that I heard about and they could always make a completly new series like The Batman, but yeah highly unlikly.Originally Posted by Amazing Spidey
Yeah, especially since there was never really any merchandise for it (besides the Subway figures and the video games) which is a real shame. It was the #1 American cartoon yet they never had any marketing tie-ins to go with it. I'm sure if they did it might have gone past 52, even if it had to be re-branded as Static Beyond or Static Unlimited or The New Static/Gear Adventures.Originally Posted by Amazing Spidey

The problem with Static was one of demographics. If you look through an action figure aisle, you'll mainly see toys who either run exclusively on cable or run on network and cable (think TMNT reruns and Titans first-runs on CN). Why is that? A family who spends money on cable is more likely to have the independent buying power to purchase their kids toys on a regular basis. So the fact that Static hasn't hit cable until this point is kind of telling how a show with an Afro-American lead is percieved. Steel's movie, as bad as it was, may have been the one attempt made to sell a black-led toyline. In typical H'wood wisdom, its failure was considered proof no market was there... That it's oh-so-important to always have a white lead in order to merchandise in large numbers, based on assumptions that white people prefer heroes who look like them and that they constitute a major market factor.Originally Posted by GMahler
Even if this white market is so all-encompassing, the truth is, action characters will be in demand regardless of age, sex or race. The Gargoyles toyline had a female human character of Hopi and Nigerian descent who did manage to hit toy shelves because she was integal to the action and plot. And for a show that's so big in moving merchandise, Yugi's human action figures have all been Japanese or Egyptian. If kids like it, they'll buy it... but it has to be for sale in the first place.
Action figure-wise, the favored format seems to be lines with white main heroes like Superman and Robin- with "token" AA characters like Green Lantern and Cyborg designed to make the line look 'appropriately' diverse. (I think this relates to the Zodak redesign Mattel opted for with He-Man as well) DC Direct, meanwhile, caters to consumers who apparently have more interest in the 50s Batwoman/Batgirl/Batmite set than Static.![]()
I'm just sick of all these white male heroes shoved in my face. Did Batman Beyond really need to be white when a wide built-in audience existed? These "risks" get taken with supporting heroes in toy-based shows all the time now, why not a lead? It's always a matter of lost nerve. I know for a fact Disney originally planned for Treasure Planet's hero to be AA, not that punk who looked like he was from the Droids cartoon. Built-in audience does not mean "play it safe". It means there's a safety net to be a little daring, a little less bland, a little more porgressive. So get to it!
I honestly think that the new wave of character will be "well-tanned," so that identifying race will be completely ambiguous. Take Lex Luthor from the Superman toon, or any alien character, or even the old version of He-Man.
Only other way I can think of to solve the "problem" is to take a character and completely turn the stereotypes around. Like have GL from JLU act like John Stewart, but look like Kyle Rayner. Or having Static act like Superman. But then "sellout" would become a very popular word here.
Thats dumb static is cool but JCA is wayyy better, in my opinion. oh well i can always watch it on Kid's WB.![]()
