Mask of the Phantasm is #1!

    Like This Thread!
Mask of the Phantasm has been labeeld the best comic book movie! WOO! Here's the article about it (which I put up on the news page) about it:

This is what you get when you mix perfect writing with perfect animation. Batman: Mask of The Phantasm proved one thing explicitly. The creative team responsible for Batman: The Animated Series, and each of it's four highly successful spin-offs shows (Batman Beyond included), should be writing the movies. Plain and simple. Each character from the Batman mythos was represented faithfully, without talking down to the audience. There was comedy, drama, action, and an actual mystery, being that Batman is the Dark Knight Detective. Most folks don't know that. If the live action Batman movies were any indication, you shouldn't have known that. Nothing, but NOTHING beats Batman: Mask of The Phantasm as a comic property translated to the screen. Give the creative team run with a live action product (with X-Men level leeway), and comic franchises will soar. SOAR.

    How sweet is that?

Hey, that is pretty awesome! It is a great movie, better than most of the live action counter parts too.

Well I could have guessed that! lol. Do I get anything for already know that to be true before the papers did?

Mask of The Phantasm is the absolute best Batman movie alive! And if you even remotely liked the movie, make sure you pick up the soundtrack. Shirley Walker, the god of Batman music. lol

You know what? These boards are so influential! We talk about Spaceballs, and suddenly a handful of us want to watch it. SLC Punk...we talk about it then watch it (I rented it myself), and now this movie. I just have to watch my DVD again!

I think it's becuase we've got so much in common here and we're influencial on each other. We al have the same general taste, so it's easy to lilke stuff that people suggest. And the MOTP soundtrack is great, but a hard find!

I'm not familar with this one? What kind of music is on it? I am sure one could be dug up on Ebay, with hope that it isn't going for an arm and a leg. (I once sold a live CD on there by Leonard Cohen for $187.00!)

Score music by Shirley Walker. It won't be going for much. 10 - 15 bucks at the most.

Yeah. But I suppose it's good news for us Bat-fans (and in turn, Walker-fans) that those morons don't know what kind of gold they're selling.

    Thanks for the info!

I think I will wait, however, to look for that soundtrack on Ebay! I get the feeling a few of us will all be going there all at once now and driving the normal prices up just a little higher!

I agree this movie was the best. But I think there were too many flashback scenes.
Two-Face:"Get out of my face Clown!"

    Mr. J:"Which one?!"

I thought the flashbacks definatly enhanced the story. It created the right tone and carried the book all throughout. Who else didn't feel upset when Bruce got the ring back from Andrea. Heck, even my sisters began to tear up!

And there's nothing like watching it on DVD. Although I saw it on the big screen and it was AMAZING!

Trust me, dude, it was amazing. The sound worked especially well for the big screen. The Batwing was loud, the thuds sounded painful, and the score sounded great. It was definatly a great theatre movie.

For all you people that missed it in the theaters, I'm so sorry. I remember going the week it was released and there was hardly anybody there. The movie was awsome on the big screen and I hope to get it on DVD soon.

DickGrayson, yes it was. The sound was amazing. It is a shame that so many people didn't see it on the big screen.

Given the limited release WB gave it, I wasn't suprised that the theatre I was in was almost bear, too. I actually still have the newspaper ad for the movie somewhere in a scrapbook I kept. The threatre was empty, but that just made me enjoy the movie even more.
