So Batman Beyon and Zeta take place in 2039?

The Toonami add says so, but I never actually heard this in the show.

I think they said BB was supposed to take place 40 years after the TNBA era. So 2039 sounds about right. I dont think it's been explicitly stated anywhere though.

Dini and Timm don't give any set time for BB. They say the series takes place "40 years from today". Since they don't give a specific date, that means no real date is given. So in 2005, they can still say that BB takes place "40 years from today".

It IS weird, but I think Dini and Timm did well on the run around they gave us, because it makes sense when you think about it. To us, "today" is ALWAYS Bruce's time as Batman. IT was in 1992 when BTAS came out, and it still is now. So what they said makes sense when you think about it.

But from the math I did, I still say it was closer to 50 years.

Y'know, I think that not only did the creators not give a specific date, but they always waffled as to whether it was 40 or 50 years, and often said "40 or 50 years" instead of being specific. That kind of ambiguity works for me.

I think it works, too. While we've had a few referneces to spefici dates (Apocalypse of 2009), the natural ambiguity of the date just works. I like it. Makes me think that in 2010, it can still take place 40 - 50 years from now.
