Question for everyone at this board!

    Like This Thread!
    Hey:

Here is a question I thought of last night, and wanted to read what you all think would happen here is the question:

"If Terry got killed, by one of his enemys what do you think Bruce would do after he learned that Terry was killed?"

I think that Bruce would just tell everyone special to Terry that he was Batman and that he was killed. Then Bruce would probably just seal up the doors and never have anyone be Batman again. I also think that Bruce would probably go crazy as well, cause he promised that he wouldn't injure any other person on the battle field, and plus the reason why he would go crazy is because that Terry was really special to him just like his parents, Dick, Tim, and Barbra. So Post what you think!

More than likely, he would put on the Batman suit once more time, exact revenge, and then do exactly what you say...seal up the Batcave and never let anybody be Batman again. Heck, he'd even probably blow up the cave and his mansion and just take off to a remote island to live out the remainder of his days.

Re: Question for everyone at this board!

After everything Terry said and did in ROTJ, I don't think Bruce's response would be to regret giving Terry the suit or to seal up the Batcave. Terry proved he deserved the role and that he was up to it. Bruce acknowledged that in his final words to him in ROTJ. Danger comes with the territory. Bruce knows that as wel as Terry. There would be sorrow in Terry dying, but not anger and grief to the level that Tim's tragedy brought about. The unfortunate thing is that if Terry died there wouldn't be anyone to take over for him. It's doubtful anyone would stumble onto the batcave like Terry did and Bruce wouldn't have enough time to search for a successor. So, ultimately, Batman would be retired. Not because of Bruce sealing it up and putting it away, but because there wouldn't be time to bring anyone else in. Dick and Barbara are younger and might be able to train and oversee a new Batman, but they might not have the desire to do it.

I agree. But I don't think there'd be any kind of search for a new Batman as you would an interior decorater for your house. What happened with Terry becoming Batman just fell into place. Bruce wasn't holding auditions.

That's an excellent question though. But wow, I don't know if I could do something like that to Bruce! His bitterness has already droven him into seclusion and beyond. But I do think he would seal up the cave forever, never wanting to endanger another person.

    Terrible thought:

Suppose Terry's death finally drove Bruce to what he told himself, despite all his pain, he would never do: commit suicide. In "Shriek" we saw that the feelings of anger and hatred and helplessness are there; for a second it looked as if he would have happily jumped out the hospital window. In a strange, sick way, it'd be fitting that Batman die by the hands of his worst enemy: himself.

That is a terrible thought, but I don't think it would be fitting or even likely. Remember, Bruce would never take a life. That would include his own. Something like the Drake situation would be the most likely to drive him to do something like that, and as we know he survived that period. Ultimately, I think he's experienced the worst pain that he can. And, again, he would never allow himself to take a life, not even his own.

I could see Bruce avenging Terry's death (he'd be strong and sure because this would be his last and truest act) even if it would almost kill him. He may then blow up Wayne Manor (like in Dark Knight Returns). Thinking over his life and those he loved and lost he'd wander to Crime Alley where his parents where murdered. And as it began to rain he'd close his eyes and then we'd cut to a news cast announcing that billionare Bruce Wayne collapsed in Crime Alley and died of natual causes and that in Wayne's will he requested no funeral services. Hearing a freshly composed piece by Shirley Walker we'd see a memorial service in the cave. It would be very sad and feature Dick, Babs, Tim, Superman, maybe even Ra's or Victor Fries (sp) some sad, others in disbelief, others numb and accepting, as the credits slowly rolled up the screen. When the credits ended we'd have a shot pulling back and upward from the mourners and a large black bat slowly flies toward the screen closing the final chapter on the Darkest of Knights.

Too much time on my hands, I know.
