    Spider-man VS Batman?

    Like This Thread!
    Now then

Talking to someone on the boards the other day and we got into who would win between Batman and Spider-man. He went with Batman and came up with some solid reasons. I came up with Spidey and came up with some solid reasons. Who do you think would win. I ask that you come up with intelligent anwsers (not "Batman would win because he is the best ever!) type crap. And please, no Marvel vs DC.

    So, Spider-man or Batman?

I would say Batman in a close fight.

Batman is good at a little thing I like to call... Cheating. He is a master at finding out someone's weakness and exploiting that weakness.

Take for instance what he did to Superman in recent issues of Batman.
    Spoiler:
He couldn't outright *beat* Superman in a fight, so he used his head and a) knew his weakness was Kryptonite and used it, b) lied in a way that made Superman not use certain powers, and c) he eventually, and this is the dirty part, had Catwoman choose someone from the Daily Planet to "put in peril" to make Superman snap out of his Poison Ivy induced daze. Catwoman picked Lois and Superman saved the day and Batman, through his knowledge, didn't exactly *win* but he did come out on top.

From what I have seen of Spider-man, I think he's an absolutely awesome character, but I just don't think he has that certain edge that would make him beat Batman in an all out fight. Batman has numerous tools to cut the webs that Spider-man uses, he is at the peak of physical training, and he walks a very fine line between playing fair and playing very dirty. I think he can play dirty and Spider-man doesn't look to have the mentality, at least in what I have seen.

Spider-man does have his Spider sense, and that could definitely give him an advantage. However, Batman has numerous tools (I said this already but it's a big point) that allow him to have above normal senses as well. (night vision inserts in his cowl that allow him to see in the dark, etc.)

But I still think Batman will take the fight because he constantly cheats, not a bad thing in a fight, but he does.

Radio Edit: Geez, I'm sorry about that spoiler thing, I just didn't realize it was that huge until I read it again. I did give it all away. I have put what he did in spoiler tags for the more sensitive people. I know you may not mind, but I would hate to ruin it for anyone else. So I spoiler-er-ized it! SHAZAM!

For the love of heck! Talk about spoilers! I haven't read the latest Batman issue and you just posted a summary! Oh well I don't care that much about spoilers.

Anyhoo I say Batman. Now I really like Spider-Man and it would be a close fight but I really think that Batman would win. He has an arsenal of weapons at his disposal, and really besides the webbing what could Spidey do to Bats that much? And Bats could cut the webs. Spidey is very agile though and with his Spider sense it would be hard for Batman to hit him with a batarang or anything. I would still give it to Batman though. You have to remember he's an expert in hand to hand combat with a high endurance level.

I say Batman. As Jade already mentioned, he's a master manipulator. Not only that, but Spider-Man really isn't that hard to beat. Look at all the people in Marvel comics who've handed Spidey his ass at one time or another. It's no contest.

Batman - if he can beat the likes of Supes (and pretty much any super hero/villain - and he's taken on Supes before the more recent outing) he can take out Spidey. Super powers seem to mean nothing to the Dark Detective - I couldn't manage Spidey having much of a chance... even with powers, Bats would trick him. Spidey has many obvious character vunerabilities which Bats would exploit to his advantages...

    Ah, the ultimate fanboy question.

The typical answer should sum up as "Batman - if he had enough time to prepare."

As you already know I went with Spider-man. Heres why. He has beaten people stronger, fasterand peoplewith better endurance than Batman. I've taken your points and considered them

Spidey knows how to fight. And he's smart so eventually he would get Batmans utility belt away from him.

Who's beaten Spidey? I don't know of anyone, but that could just be a lack of knowledge.

I asked for reasons if you remember.

Didn't Batman nearly break his hand punching Superman in "A Death In The Family"? See your point about tricking him.
    Spoiler:
He did it well with Supes in the last issue of Batman.

    Ah, the ultimate fanboy question.

Every villain under the sun has kicked the crap out of Spider-Man. He always seems to get beat, and then he uses his knowledge from defeat to beat them the second time around. That's the problem. I see Spidey as someone who has to have his ass kicked before he can kick ass. That's just my opinion from reading various comics and watching the entire animated series.

I'm going with Spider-Man...mainly out of spite for the current version of Batman (or "BatGod-who-acts-like-Nightwing's-first-name" as he currently seems to be written...). :-p

Besides, is this assuming they're just thrown together without much/any knowledge of each other and fight it out, or is this set up for the future (for the "Batman having enough time to prepare" stuff)? Is this in some dark Gotham alleyway or on the skyscrapers of New York? Does Batman get to use his utility belt, I presume? And wouldn't Spidey's spider-strength, speed, and reflexes come into play, along with (if *he* gets "time to prepare" as well, Peter's scientific know-how? Peter's certainly no mental slouch...). OK, so I brought up a bunch of factors that actually make my decision hard to call... :-)

I can't see Batman matching Spiderman's physically, Spidey is so used to dodging projectiles that Batarangs wouldn't be much of a probably. I think the only way Batman would win is to set a trap.

    ...

Spider-Man. But it could also be Batman. Both of them are really clever, but I think Spider-Man would win in an all out fight because of his super strength/agility and Spider-sense. Batman would need some time to plan a trap, but if it was just one battle, he wouldn't have as much time.

Batman Has more cunning Moves then Spiderman, plus you don't end up getting tied in strings of webs when Traveling or fight crime.

Spider-Man is superhumanly fast, so he goes first. He webs Batman up, using one of the wide settings on his webshooters. Batman can't even move within the tensile strength of Spider-Man's web to reach one of his weapons. I'm a big Batman fan, but this isn't even close.

It depends on whose comic it is.

If it's Batman's comic, Batman wins. If it's Spidey's comic, Spidey wins.

Yeah, I'm a wiseass. But you know it's true.

Come to think of it, Spidey beats a lot of other super heroes. The only guy I can think of he lost to was Daredevil?

Well I think you could swing it either way. The biggest error villains make with Batman is presumption. That just because he's webbed up and on the floor. He is defeated. Bat's could get out of that - and while he's trying he would play mind games with Spidey just to throw him off... never unestimated Batman's ingenuity - it goes far beyond what lies in his utility belt.

well u can also think about the fact that spider-man is kinda freaked out and scared of batman which we learned in "Spider-Man and Batman" in 1995.
