Who is the greatest villain of all time?

    Like This Thread!
There are a lot of good villains to choose from. Scarecrow, Dr. Doom, Red Skull, Lex Luthor, and Two Face. But none of them compare to the Joker. The Joker has shaped the entire Batman legacy and the support titles. He has also had a big impact on Superman and his titles. His sick blood thirsty sense of humor ended the career of one Batgirl and a Robin on top of that. He is able to bring anyone and everyone into his madness. Just look at what he was able to do to Nightwing. The story stays the same from comic to animated. The Joker means more to Batman then anything one or anything else.

Anyone agree or have another suggestion?

    heres the problem

no other villian has been around as long and been as well written as the joker

i like Darkseid a LOT-- i think hes a foe worthy of SUPERMAN

but he hasnt done things like the Joker has done-- but again its simply because of writing

I think Darkseid could be the better villian, but he isn't always written as well

    my 2 cents

I like Darkseid. I don't think he should have lost to Superman in the animated world. He did work an interesting angle with Luthor during OWAW. That could be something big.

I agree-- the problem is that I think DOOMSDAY is the worst villain ever-- EVER

his one superpower is making all other heroes stupid and brutes

and if you remeber from legacy

    Spoiler:
Superman may have beaten him physically for the time being because Darkseid got sloppy, but Darkseid LIVES ON-- "I am many things, Kal-El, but here, I am GOD" He plays for higher stakes and isnt quite defeated yet

That is true and I don't really take the animated world into consideration when it comes to characters and their ability.

I don't think Doomsday is that great. I think it could be good because possibly we could see some kind of Superman/Darkseid encounter.

    #1 Darkseid
    #2 Joker
    #3 GL Villian TBD
    #4 Flash Villian TBD
    #5 JSA Villian TBD

If they did that then I would hope they wouldn't cross over.

Should they lead into other stories though? Or should they be like the Batman one shots for Freeze, Riddler, and Ivy to name a few.

I'd probably have to say Darkseid, Lex Luthor, and the Joker. Er.... yeah, that's it.

The best villain is, without a doubt, Lex Luthor. He's got his hands in everything, and you can rarely ever see his true intentions. I mean, I look at the last page of SUPERMAN #182, and I just know he already has a plan. Batman can't even take down this guy. But if he fails to deliver with his recent discovery, then the new best villain of all time will be...

The Kingpin. Honestly, how cool is it that this guy is/was a bigtime crime figure, and could still keep the feds off his back. This guy rules.

Honorable mention: Bullseye. The fight scene between him and Daredevil in Kevin Smith's story settled it for me.

My pick would have to be for the despot - Dr. Doom. This guy can do it all - he's a technological genius that created his own country. While every other country fears and despises him his people love him and knows that he is only trying to protect them. Add to Doom's list that he's the second most powerful sorcerer on Earth (he even went to Hell and battled Mephisto to save his mothers soul) and you have a villain that can out fight you, out think you and out class you in any endeavor you pick. That is unless your name is Reed Richards.

The Joker is a top pick on my list. Actually, he's the villain I most remember from comics, so I guess it's not really that fair. Joker has so much history that he just beats everyone else in sheer recognizability.

I also think that Lex Luthor is awesome, especially with him being the President now, and being able to get away with anything because of his overreaching influence. He's just great.

The Ultra-Humanite is so scary that he has to be right up there. Imagine being able to move your brain into new bodies..... So freaky. And JSA right now has an awesome story with Ultra-Humanite, so that's fresh in my mind.

That's all I got right now. Honorable mentions would have to go to Magneto, Green Goblin.

I think Lex is number 2. Right behind Joker. Maybe just maybe if he is part of this murder storyline he'll move up a little, but it's impossible for anyone to have the impact the Joker has.

Joker. At first he seems like a guy with white skin, green hair, a freaky grin and a sick, twisted sense of humour. Well, he is that kinda guy....but there is so much more that makes up this character. Not even Batman can figure him out completely. And he has in deed shaped a lot of things in Batman's world. Lex Luthor is pretty awesome as far as bad guys go. No super powers, not insane, just a man. A very shrewd, intelligent, viscious and evil man, but a man all the same, which makes him so darn cool. And of course evil and money together, well, what makes a better combination than that?

As if there was ever any doubt...THE JOKER!! he is by far the greatest, craziest, most powerful and twisted villain of all time! No one can beat the joker! Of course, I may be biased because he's my favorite comic book, television, and movie character of ALL time.

THE JOKER - no question. No one is more sinester, more lethal - not even Luthor comes close to the Joker's evil. He is purely insane, no rational thought is involved or is there? No one will ever know - he's that crazy. The Joker is a homicidal maniac with the brain to defeat Rha's Al Ghul at Chess...scary stuff.
