R.I.P. Les Daniels
R.I.P. Les Daniels. For those who don't know the name, he's the author of several texts on the history of comics and comic-book characters, and did what I still consider the definitive histories of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman that I think any serious DC fan ought to have on their bookshelves (or I would if some of those volumes hadn't gone out of print and now seem to be commanding ridiculous prices). His work was a marvelous balance of being scholarly and well-researched while still being approachable and totally readable, and I'm sad that we aren't going to see more of it.
