    What ???

This seriously stinks. He's definitely gone way too soon.

Just got into a discussion about him while introducing somebody to JLU yesterday and I was really looking forward to watching All-Star Superman today.

Rest In peace doesn't even feel like a strong enough farewell.

Oh my god, I used to see him all the time in the DC Animated forums. I was just thinking about him yesterday, after watching All-Star Superman. I thought about Static Shock, the crossovers with the other DC shows...it was a trail of fond thought all sparked by Dwayne McDuffie.

I read the recent interview with Andrea Romano, saying she absolutely loves working with Dwayne and his scripts because he's so faithful to the source material.

This is incredibly sad and extremely unexpected. I gasped when I saw this. This is the first time I logged in to post in years.

Poor Dwayne...and his family and friends and colleagues. His legacy will live on in the writing he's done over the years, the characters he's created... DC should commence an animated movie for Static Shock, in Dwayne's memory.

Very surprising. A very active fellow online, as well as being a well known creative backbone of many comic book related things. Of course, the question lurking in the back of everyone's heads is how, but that's up to the family if they will let disclose.

This can't be true. How could we lose someone like him? RIP Dwayne McDuffie.

    Just a note:

We also have another thread for talkback on the DC Animated Universe forum. I think there's room to mourn both the loss of a beloved animation writer and also a fantastic comic book writer, so I'm content to keep the threads seperate.

Feel free to discuss Dwayne's comic book contributions over the years here in this thread (along with your sympathies, of which Dwayne's family deserve many condolenses).

Wow, I'd like to believe this isn't true, but if it is we've lost a giant of both the comics and animation field and a man who clearly had a strong love for both. Milestone Comics was one of the boldest, most groundbreaking efforts in comics in the last couple of decades. And if his name was on the cover of an issue, you knew it was worth reading.

Superheroes just won't be as super without him.
    And stay out of Riverdale!

I mean, this is the guy that wrote Damage Control. Just doesn't seem right that someone who made so many people happy gets so little time.
    And stay out of Riverdale!

Crap. I was expecting this to be a possible hoax when I first read it, but it does seem to be true.

Dwayne was a man of strong vision and detailed planning, which I feel are qualities all too often lacking in modern comic book writers. Sometimes this forcefulness generated controversy among his co-workers and readers, but in spite of that Dwayne never lost his willingness to challenge and engage others in a cordial fashion. The mark he left on the industry was huge and will be felt for many years to come.

We lost one of the greats today.

    Rest in peace.

Terrible news. I really liked his work very much and he seemed to be a pretty cool guy overall.
