Has anyone considered the possibility that Lex Luthor is behind all of this?
Lex has been pissed at Batman since he screwed him over in No Man's Land, and likely even moreso after he broke into the White House with Superman last year. Considering Lex is now the President, he has even more resources at his disposal than ever before, and it's not hard to believe that he could have used his clout to uncover Batman's secret identity. This whole Vesper-murder thing could have been a plan of Lex's to take Batman out of commission.
It's also likely that Bruce suspects that Lex is behind it, as well. That might explain his erratic behavior, and his not seeming to care about clearing his name. He knows that it's going to be very very difficult to prove that Luthor is connected to this, and it is going to take him some time to formulate a plan that he can put into action. The reason he is not telling Tim, Dick, Barbara, etc his suspicions is because he realizes now how dangerous Luthor can be, and doesn't want them to get involved.
Thoughts on this?

Well they simply snuck in, They're Batman and Superman for crying out loud.
But Batman and Lois, were trying to take away luthors Kryptonite, Superman was actually trying to stop them. Batman and Supes conronted each other, Fought a little, all inside the Whitehouse. Batman steals, the Krypto, and places a fake piece of Krypto back into the box, Lex catches them. Lex uses the krypto on Supes, it does'nt work, Finds out it's a fake. Superman Demands that Batman gives the real krypto back to Lex. Lex Test's it on Supes. Supes gets hurt by it. And Lex is happy. Lois is mad. They're forced to leave the Whitehouse.
The End.
...Oh yeah, after they leave, it was all a trick. The decoy Krypto that Batman Placed into the Lead box at first..was ACTUALLY the real Krypto, When lex used it on Supes, supes just put on a straight face, but was really in pain. Then Supes takes the Decoy from Batman, Lex uses the Decoy on Supes, and Supes Pretends to be hurt. So lex is Duped, he has a phony piece of Kryptonite in the Whitehouse, and the real pice is given to Batman. Lois had know Idea Batman and Superman, had planned this ahead of time.

It's a cool Issue, you even see Batman use a substance similar to Spiderman's web fluid on Supes. But out of a Can.

This is actually a pretty dang good theory. Someone did bring this up once before when this whole thing started, and, to be honest, I forgot about it until now. I'd say this is certainly a possibility.

I hope it's not, Ok Lex has more power now. But, that still does'nt explain why Batman is being so hard on Criminals latley.
Perhaps Lex Cloned Batman, and has the real Bruce Locked up somewhere. The current story especially Batman #601 is telling us that Bruce has gone out of his mind. That's what alfred is pointing out. Or for some reason, the mind that the current Batman has a different mind, then before. So who knows. But even if the Bruce the Way we know him, were threatened by Lex in this Fashion, he would'nt act this way.
So I think we can safely say, something is wrong with his mind.

Sugar Daddy, if you are interested, part one took place in Superman #168, and part two took place in Detective Comics #756. FLIPMODE summed the story up very well, but if your comic store has the backissues, you might want to pick 'em up, it was a darned good read.

Excellent stuff, good theory - very interesting. But if Luthors plan was to take out Batman, the plan didn't work 'cause Batman is now free and at large more so than ever because he doesn't have to worry about Bruce Wayne anymore.
Very interesting however, that Mr. Loeb is leaving Superman, and since Rucka is leaving 'Tec, Brubaker will move over to "Tec...could Loeb be moving to Gotham, and don't forget he is going to be writing the all new Superman & Batman monthly....that will be in continuity....the plot thickens!!!!
I am Vengeance,
I am the Night,
I AM BATMAN!
did someone say..........CLONES?
ive got some ideas that could spice up the bat-titles,
degeneration, the batman we all know isnt the REAL bruce-- the real one ran away, but comes back with not only a cooler costume , but better weapons
we could call it........Maximum Cloneage.......
oh yeah and then to end it the writers can just slop together a storyline where some villian who has been dead for 40 years returns and kills the fake (or is he the real? we dont know for sure still.....) bruce and the other one carries on like it all never happened-- never using the better weapon ideas of course
Maybe Luthor contacted Strange...Strange shared his theory on Batman being bruce and the two of them are in this together???Originally posted by Clayface

I really think Hugo Strange is involved....especially after reading Robin 100. At the very end??? It sure as heck wasn't Bruce knocking Tim unconcious from behind...there is only one of Batman's rouges that I can remember who is fixated on being Batman, and even dressing up as him!
I am Vengeance,
I am the Night,
I AM BATMAN!
That's Funny I thought it was CERTAINLY Batman that knocks Tim out at the end of Robin #100.
Rememeber Robin Say's: "You dont Know about Every Trick I learned in France" So he's addressing Batman. Plus, hugo Strange can't sneak up on Robin. And Remember Robin was Waiting for Batman to arrive. Robin staked out watching this gu who he noticed Batman was looking for, Because the guy had a Batman Tracking Device on him.
Im hoping the Next Robin uncovers alot.
I dont know, I like the Possibility of a Batman Clone. Batman would definitly agree to work with himself, and would trust his every move. Plus it would make time for Bruce Wayne.

Thats cool...I just think that if it was Bruce he wouldn't have been so blacked out and kept in the shadows...Tim was very distracted with everything that has been happening to him, so I think it is possible that someone could sneak up on him, but we will see...can't wait to find out, great stuff!Originally posted by FLIPMODE
