    Getting cartoons published

    Hey everyone,

I am planning to publish a book containing some comics I have drawn. I was just wondering where I would find a publisher. Any suggestions?
Buy my new book THE HEATHER COMICS at Lulu.com

The easiest way would be to self-publish it as a mini-comic. That means, seriously, cutting, copying and assembling a run of it yourself and then selling it yourself through the mail, at shows and at whatever stores you can find that will put them out. It's not exactly the way to fame and fortune, necessarily, but it might get your work noticed. Some relatively big names in the alternative comics scene started off that way. Terry LaBan, for instance, did mini-comics early in his career, moved on to Fantagraphics and now he has a regular newspaper strip called Edge City.

I think the mini scene has died down in recent years as a lot of that stuff goes to the Web now, but if you want to be able to show people your stuff this might work for you.
    And stay out of Riverdale!

For crying out loud, indies are easier to make than THAT now. It's not the 80's anymore. Now you can go to one of several print-on-demand websites, upload your material and buy as many copies as you need. No cutting required!

THIS WEEK: When you think about it, TV shows with cult fanbases have actually returned more times than they haven't. The results have been mixed, but it's a thing, and it totally happens! Join us as we examine many recent examples in..."YOU CAME BACK!"

I didn't know about those. It loses a little bit of that DIY spirit, I think, to do it that way. That's more like vanity publishing.

Here's one that I found, though.

Here's something to consider. A dual pronged approach.

I second Lulu. Many popular cartoonists and writers benefit from it, and from what I understand they're really easy to work with.

    Zack and Zeke

It's kind of like ET, if you take out all of the emotion and turn it into a silly webcomic that's updated on Tuesdays and Thursdays
