I like stuff kept in chronological (read: release) order, so the earliest issues are up front and the numbers get higher as you go back. Every comic shop I've ever gone to as them in the same order. Have never seem them the other way.
Earliest issues in front, newest issues in back
Earliest issues in back, newest issues in front
Weird question. I have always organized my comic book boxes with the earliest issues toward the front of the box, working toward the more recent issues being at the back of the box.
At my local comic book store, they are organized with the earlier issues at the back of the box, and the most recent ones at the front of the box.
So, my question is, which is the "right" way to do it? How does everyone else do it???

I store them "by year", that is, every twelve issues are separated from the rest, and each issue is enclosed in backing boards. The most frontal issue is #1 and the most back issue is #12, etcetera.
By the way, I've read that the best way to store comics is by placing them front cover to front cover, back cover to back cover, front cover to front cover and so forth [I think]; it prevents the comic from bending into a curved shape.
Comic shops probably do that so people don't have to rack through an entire box to find a recent issue. I imagine most people looking through back issues are trying to buy the issues they forgot to add to thier pulling list in previous months, or more than likely, they're looking for that issue that had sold out before they got to the store last time and need it to complete the story.
I remember owning Marvel Zombies #4 and #5 months before I got #3. I had to wait for a new reprint and variant cover because our comic shop is pretty lously with back issue bins.
I pack them back to front with the newest issue in front. If there's an annual I will usually put it behind the issue with the January cover date to signal the start of a new year.

I always put the earliest issues in the front of the box with the newer issues in back. It's how I've been doing it for the past 20+ years that I've been collecting. It's also how I see them in most dealer boxes. It's very rare when I see them the other way.
