Will Mary Jane Buy it in this arc? I've been reading many of the articles about this title's upcoming events, and they don't seem to mention much about her. Instead, they seem to mention more about Peter's relationship with Gwen Stacy. To top it off, we get this as a cover to Ultimate Spider-Man #25 (see below). Are they going to pull a "Gwen Stacy" and kill Mary Jane? That's not good!

Actually, MJ is slated to have her own mini-series sometime this fall. It will deal with her knowing Peter's secret and how she deals with it. A chunk of it will reportedly take place during the Doc Ock fight from a few issues back.

I hope she does. And don't take that the wrong way. I LOVE her character, she's incredible strong and I'm looking forward to the mini. But I wanna see her buy it, if only so Marvel can show that they ain't afraid.

I think that MJ will be killed by the Green Goblin. It has been said this arch will have a very tragic ending. What could be more tragic then the death of MJ? The mini-series still can happen cause it will be centered around the time of the Doc Ock when she whas still alive. I want to see her go and then again I don't....

I don't think she will die.

Marvel didn't release the cover to Ultimate Spider-Man #13 in order to keep the details of that issue secret, but they release this cover. I feel as if they trying to build speculation to lead readers down the wrong path.

Besides, I've heard rumors that the tragic ending will come from either (a) MJ being somehow traumatized/seriously injured by her encounter with the Green Goblin, or (b) that she'll break it off with Peter, since she feels he is indirectly responsible for what the Goblin did to her.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong. I'm hoping neither MJ nor Gwen dies though.

Here we go! The return of Green Goblin is kicking into high gear as everything is starting to actually fall into place (like S.H.E.I.L.D.'s involvment) and such. Comments?

OH MY this issue blew me away, I was starting to like Ultimate X-men more then Spidey since issue #20 was so great but now I would have to say they are even! I loved how they showed the talk between Green Goblin and Spidey from last issue in Goblin's point of view. Mmmm insanity got to love it. And the last page left word-less and will leave you speech-less. It appears MJ is dead, it has the classic look of someone being held that is dead, the issue was left title-less (I think thats a first ). All the signs point to MJ being dead but I don't think she is, she probably just fainted but Spidey did catch her at the last moment from a big fall and could have caused the death of her like Gwen. I can't wait for the next issue I will be shocked if Marvel has the guts to kill off MJ so early in the title, I don't think they do thou...

It's issues like this that make me upset that I wait for them to come to TPB. Sure, it's better in the long run, but it takes away part of the enjoyment.

I went ahead and picked this one up on a recomendation, and I must say that I was very impressed. I'm very much enjoying the whole "Ultimate" deal Marvel is doing.

Wow... this was a great issue. Osborn is obviously tripped up on the Oz serum; I'm hoping he ends up a schizophrenic like he is (or rather, was) in the regular MU.

As for MJ... I was pretty much shocked. I had heard that Bendis has plans for the two to drift apart somewhere down the road, so to see that MJ has (apparently) died was unbelievable. Still, I can't help thinking that Bendis is throwing us a red herring, making us believe MJ is dead when she's really unconscious or passed out. You'll notice the dialogue doesn't explicitly say she's dead, unlike the dialogue during the death of Gwen Stacy.

I'm still holding out hope that MJ survives this arc... I'll be pretty crushed if she doesn't.

I think Bendis might be pulling our leg, but if he isn't I'll be sad. I like MJ.

With Bendis, it's hard to tell if she is actually dead or not. I remember first reading the series when Uncle Ben died, and I thought there was a great possibilitiy Aunt May would end up six feet under instead, and it holds the same here. Could MJ be dead, or did she live? Personally I think she lived and this will be the start of Peter and MJ growing apart. I won't be 100% assured until next month.

Ben lives but May dies? VERY interesting possibilities.

Heres what I bet would be different:

    1. Peter would tell Ben re: Spidey-powers-- hey its a guy thing-- he thinks his aunt is feeble and older and can't handle the truth

    2. he might not have so many women problems-- ben always seemed full of advice

Well I cant wait to see a ticked Spidey take on Goblin and tell off Shield for "not letting anyone get hurt." Also did anyone get a Venom feel from Goblin? I did. I'm thinking that Norman could be setting Harry up not to be the next Goblin but.....VENOM Anyone else think that? I'm sure MJ is fine just going to avoid Peter and her and Harry will get together and Parker and Gwen will get together and then eventually Peter and MJ will get back together.

Well, Norman did mention some "program words" in reference to Harry's hypnotism, so it is possible, especially since OsCorp still has Peter's blood sample from way back in issue #2...

And yeah, I think Mary Jane will live after all. Bendis does like to tease. He knows we're familiar with the Gwen Stacy death and is using that to give us a false impression. But he also mentioned about a month ago that Peter and MJ would begin to drift apart, and I think this is the turning point of that. For once, both Peter and MJ (especially MJ) realize that it's not all fun and games being a superhero. Seems to me that Peter will pull the same trick from the movie and break it off with MJ so she doesn't get hurt again.

This issue was GREAT! I liked the look into the Goblin's mind, to see how truly insane he is. My favorite part of his little insane rant was the "circles" talk...just goes to show what a little run-in with the wrong chemical can do to you...Anyway, the MJ aspect is definitely interesting, and I'm not sure whether or not she's dead. The way he caught her was almost exactly like Spidey caught Gwen in the original comics...I hope MJ's not dead, but if she was, it would certainly be interesting to see what Gwen Stacy'd be like alive for the series...Then again, Peter and MJ are supposed to have a falling-out period, so I'm guessing she lives (though I'm not 100%). A great issue, but it seemed a little short (or was it just that I read it so fast?). Can't wait to find out what happens!

    hmm

maybe MJ is dead-- but she was CLONED! Yeah, thats it! 30 years from now she can return from the dead (along wtih a dengereated clone of her with vast superhuman powers) and throw a lugnut into spidey's life once again!

    hehehe sorry couldnt resist

i go to buy this issue today-- I pray that its still on the shelves

I really hope they killed MJ. And don't think I'm trying to bring the mood down. I just want to see them do something so extreme, just to show their not afraid. If she doesn't die? Big letdown. This has the makings of something truly unbelievable, that could affect Peter even more than the death of Uncle Ben.

I am thoroughly looking forward to the conclusion in #26, and the aftermath in #27. This is gonna be a classic.
