    This Week In Comics: 09/20/2006

    Like This Thread!
Welcome to This Week in Comics for September 20th, 2006 - September 26th, 2006!

This is the place to discuss the comics you've bought this week, whether it be a brand new title or old back-issues. We also welcome and encourage talk about comics in general - news you've read on comic news sites, the state of the industry in general, upcoming issues you're excited about, etc. All we ask is that you please use spoiler brackets in the event that your comments get too detailed concerning a particular storyline. This way the book won't be ruined for anyone who hasn't read it yet.

For a list of the new items shipping this week, please consult Diamond Comics' Shipping List.

To find a comic book store near you, check out the Comic Shop Locator Service.

Okay, Toon Zone talkback lovers, here's the deal: I just recieved word from Spider-Man, (the Toon Zone poster, not the character) that he won't be back for some time to come, and is perhaps gone indefinently. As such, we're now looking for some comic book talkback lovers to take over posting the weekly talkbacks on a permanent basis, (not just temporary, as we had thought Spidey would be back soon).

So if you're interested in creating and participating in the weekly comic book talkbacks, (for anything from "Action Comics" to "Wonder Woman", from "Amazing Spider-Man" to "X-Men", or even from "Gargoyles" to "Star Wars"), here's what you can do:

Come every Wednesday, check what new comics are coming out, (you can click on the Diamond Comics Shopping List above, which Clayface always posts in the "This Week in Comics" thread) and create a talkback for those comics! If you're unsure how to create a talkback, check out the rules, (and see a list of existing talkbacks) here! The only thing we ask is that if you post a talkback thread, that you posts your thoughts on the comic the talkback thread is about!

Also, you can send me a private message if you have any questions about the talkback threads.

Brian K. Vaughan interview at the comicfoundry.com website. Initiated for the release of The Pride of Baghdad, but it's a nice survey of his career as it stands right now and his philosophies of writing.

I meant to brag about this a few days prior, but might as well do so now:

This week's Pick of the Week is a little bit different, because...well, it's not actually a comic book. Hey, Clayface did it first, by picking a prior Vampire Hunter D book as his pick of the week! Okay, yes, it's a novel, but a. it's published by Dark Horse Comics, one of the best comic publishers in the business, and b. it features illustrations by Yoshitaka Amano, one of Japan's premiere artists! He's also done some American comic book work, having drawn the graphic novel "Sandman: The Dream Hunters", (written by Neil Gaiman) and the "Wolverine/Elektra: The Redeemer" graphic novel for Marvel, (written by Greg Rucka). And c'mon, it's Vampire Hunter D, one of the best action/horror heroes of all anime! So take a bite, (sorry, couldn't resist) out of this fan favorite novel series!
