Molecular Transmutation
This is the place for any superpower that exists in the known universe. If there is already a thread like this, please tell me or move this to the appropriate place. EVERYONE is free to contribute!
This can be anything from Superman to Hawgirl powers. (I don't think Batman counts, though.)
What superpowers linger in the deep reaches of Superhero Lore?
I'll start with a basic list, then maybe will update later on.
Super strength -- ability to lift/move something that isn't humanly possible by making contact with the hands as one would normally lift something; an enhancement of physical strength.
Flight -- the supernatural ability that defies gravity where a being can move across a certain plane without friction or contact with the ground.
Telekinesis -- the ability to move things with one's mind; instead of physically lifting an object, one simply thinks/wants it to be lifted, and the object hovers off the ground on its own. This technique takes a very strong mind, but can become a very useful power.
Temperature control -- the ability where a person can either draw heat out of something, or put heat into it; cold is simply the absense of heat, so one does not just "freeze" things, he/she is ultimately a pyrokinetic (controlling heat with the mind), because where does that heat go? Thus, the two abilities are interlocked and interrelated.
I know that's not it, so let's hear what the rest of you have to say!![]()

"Rorschach sucks." - The Question
Well, I think it's very difficult to describe some superpowers logically, like you did. But I think everyone here can give it a shot...
Walk through walls, aka "Phasing" -- property where the body is able to alter its density so that it is hardly solid and able to pass through solid objects (The Martian Manhunter has this power). This also accounts for being able to do the opposite -- altering density to make it hard as a rock.
Telepathy -- the uncanny ability where someone is able to communicate with their mind, ideally not moving their mouth. This can be used to either send out or receive messages. Such messages can even disable an opponent, if it were to be used in combat.
Invisibility -- the property where the body adapts a camoflage of everything around it. Some even have the ability so well that light does not affect them, meaning, no shadows are produced.

Recommended Fics:
The Unopened Doors
Teen Titans: Evaporation
Raven: Bloodline
Time Travel: Being able to move through the timestream, can be used for "fixing time" or to show what could happen in the future.
Speed: Being able to move faster then what is fastest for your species (or then a human, I guess it depends on the circumstances).
Elemental control: Willfully moving or controlling elements, aka weather, metal, rock etc. Usually a specific element per superhero (Storm: Weather, Metal Men: their own metal bodies).
The problem is fitting some superpowers into catergories, or defining them without being specific to one character.

"Batman's 'The Dark Knight'. Superman's 'The Man Of Steel'. If I'm not careful, I'll be Starman 'the hero who gets knocked out and tied up a lot'.
- Jack Knight
Well, there's some funny-animal superheroes that moved at superspeed; specific to Marvel and DC, DC in the 40's published in their old humor title "Funny Stuff" stories about "The Terrific Whatzit", a turtle who would remove its shell when as a superhero identity; he had a costume like the Golden Age Flash's, and powers similar to his (with super-strength and flight thrown in).Originally Posted by The Frog
There's also "Fastback" from the 80's series "Capt. Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew" (another super-fast turtle, and the Terrific Whatzit's nephew) and "the Crash" (Flash's super-fast, similar-costumed animal counterpart from an alternate Earth's "JLA" [the "Justa Lotta Animals"], whom the Zoo Crew met in a crossover; yep, he was a turtle too).

Electrical Powers -- the property in which a human being is able to manipulate the protons and electrons in whatever he or she chooses. This allows him or her to shock another person, or make something entirely inanimate shock something else... all by the manipulation of the proton/electron placement and configuration. Another perk from this ability is manipulating the electrons so that one object or person is electrically attracted to another by static electricity, or the opposite could occur.
Shape Shifting -- (I think this one was mentioned above, but not explained) the ability of a person to manipulate the molecules in their body to match or resemble something or someone else. Simply put, they have control over each and every one of their tiny cells. They are able to do this by looking at what they want to resemble, and making each microscopic atom conform to the shape and alteration of what they want to mimick.
Multiplication -- the capability of a person where each cell performs mitosis multiple times (not just one, but ALL) but maintaining the original. Thus, one is able to duplicate his or her body in to several others.
NOTE that each one of the occurring phenonemons does NOT occur in normal human beings. Sorry!![]()
