Cyclops: Should He Wear A Hoodie?

    Like This Thread!
Surprisingly, this seems to be one of the big points of contention on who's drawing the X-Men.

Personally, I can't stand the original look. My favorite was the '90s style, without the hood. But Cassaday's current look is working too... I just can't get past the hood. It'd probably be best if he didn't have the hood, but had Cassaday's main outfit design...

What's your opinion on the hood?

I enjoy the unhooded head look myself. Cassidy's Astonishing design is so streamlined and spare that the hood works well to go with the slick look of it. I can't look at that costume without seeing it as a statement though, in that he's down to an essential look and not draped with unneeded pockets and belts. I'm not crazy about Cassidy's design but I do appreciate him for opting for such a logical and true to the character design.

Gimme an unhooded Cyclops anyday. Not necessarily one with a lot of unneeded drapery, but a costume design interesting enough to go with that exposed head of his.

I tend to prefer him without the skullcap as part of his costume. It just seems to reinforce how uptight the man is. Between the tight suit, the visor, and the skullcap, it looks like he's been hermetically sealed inside his suit to keep out germs or something. All he needs is something to cover his mouth and nose, and nothing will be able to get at him. The Jim Lee design that first showed his hair was such a big step away from Cyclops's usual look that it really turned the whole thing around.

Though, I am willing to live with the Cassaday design.

Unhooded. I prefer the Jim Lee/Evolution look where his hair is free. I agree with AdamYJ that the skullcap probably fits his character better, but it's not aesthetically pleasing.

I think it's nice to see him both ways every once in a while. He seems to wear the hood when he's making more of an effort to conceal his identity. If I had to choose one over the other, I'd pick un-hooded because I'm most familiar with that look.
