"The Cruelest Cut" Parts 1 of 2. Wolverine’s 30th Anniversary Celebration starts off with a bang as the X-Men investigate some mysterious murders in New York City. All the victims seem to have been cut to pieces by blades — Adamantium blades! But if Wolverine didn’t murder these people…then who did?!

Decent issue. Better than the crap with the Fury or Murderworld, but not not up to the level of Claremont's work on X-Treme X-Men, let alone his old Uncanny Run. Kurt and Rachel's scene at the start of the issue was pretty good, I think they could make a good couple.

    I'd give this issue a 3 out of 5.

The issue was pretty good. ***1/2 because it's not the greatest book out there but it's fairly entertaining.

One thing about the issue. I hope that's not X-23's costume. It's exactly the same as Fang's from the Imperial Guard. If she is a waitress at that club then perhaps there's a reason for this "homage" since there was another waitress wearing Gladiator's costume.

The Nightcrawler and Rachel scene was nice, and I didn't have a problem with it, but the dialogue was a little...lame.
    She's--gorgeous!
    His fur--it's so sleek!
    My mouth's gone dry!
My heart's pounding like a drum!
    Her eyes--!
    His lips--!
    We could--ahem--we should--start again...
    Oh yes, please!
    Rachel, I meant--
    Hush!

I liked that Hugh Jackman comment that Wolverine made. I also thought that the Rachel/Kurt scene in the beginning was interesting. As for X-23, I can't believe they are actually putting her into the comics. I always assumed she would remain a cartoon character and only a cartoon character.

Claremont's not exactly critically acclaimed for his dialogue after all. He'd probably do better if he plotted out issues and someone else scripted the dialouge.

Guess it's official now. Wolverine has been neutered. Dressed up in a Tux for a date? It's bad enough he's in every book now he's so whimped out. But I digress.... Ok, book. I figure I'll just pick up the alan davis issues (no more filler issues here) for the nice art.

When did they bring back Murderworld, I thought Arcade was lost in X-men history.

I liked this issue a lot more than I have lately for previous uncanny issues. The new art looks nice, a pleasant change to the series. I enjoyed the opening scene with Kurt and Rachel, and this female with the claws looks interesting. Poor Logan, his face at the end when he gets stabbed, was just like "Whoa". I felt bad for that girl in the beginning, humans ignored her because they thought she was a mutant, the mutants ignored her because she was human.

Maybe you should start reading these things. Comics are great things and it's a shame to hear someway say they only look at the covers.

About this issue I thought it was a step up from the usual we've been getting on this comic lately. Claremont is still dropping and picking up plot threads with little disregard for conclusion but it wasn't as bad in this issue. The artwork was great as always. I love what Alan Davis brings to this title and I'm glad he's handling these issues. This seemed like a step up over the past few issues. It's still rough around the edges but it seems like Claremont is getting a little more steady.

I didnt like X-23 in the Evolution cartoon, so I'm not excited about this character coming in to the comics. (even though, she's been in NYX but lets forget about that)

Rachel/Kurt seemed odd, and forced though.

Besides that it was a typical Claremont issue. Nothing inventive, or grippingly interesting.

    3/5

Also does a scene where Wolverine gets attacked really supposed to shock anyone or be a real cliffhanger? It's not like we dont know what's going to happen.

This whole thing with X-23 could be either bad or good. So far it doesn't look bad. As for Geech, why would he give them so much trouble? After fighting the likes of Jaggurnat, Magneto, and Apacolypse, this guy shouldn't have been that difficult to fight.
