    Last Laugh # 6 (Spoilers!)

    Like This Thread!
So, what did everyone think of this? I was dissappointed in it myself. It was a bit anticlimatic. the series has been just "OK" all along, but I was hoping for something better. I am glad they didn't kill Joker though, although it appears it may be a while before we see him again. Overall, this series was just OK, enjoyable, but nothing Spectacular. What did everyone else think?

ugh...so i've spent the last six weeks getting "the last laugh" and DC did get the last laugh after all...this was such a pointless story...i myself felt very bored by it but obligated to get it for it being a "batman" storyline...fro reading various articles i figure the writers couldn't take it either...
batman's reaction to a "dead" robin was ...well...there was none...i can't even complain about it anymore because if i do this reply will be so long that the next batman movie would be out by then...ugh...
note to all: avoid any "last laugh" trades...the bruce wayne storyline next year better be good...
oh and the bat-titles by the way are very good...don't let this discourage you...this was just a bad ploy by DC for some inane reason

Luckily, I realized after the first two issues that this storyline wasn't going anywhere interesting and stopped collecting it.

I'm reaching up and reaching out, I'm reaching for the random, or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
    Spiral out. Keep going"

Come on, did any of you really think that DC Comics would be stupid enough to kill off the Joker?

I didn't buy the series, but I skimmed them on the racks. The whole plotline was really stupid. And the "Jokerized" villains--one bad guy with white skin and green hair is enough, but hundreds is an eyesore. I hope that they don't stay like that.

Very bad storyline if you ask me. It seemed as if the writers just couldn't handle so many jokers at the same time... writing one good Joker story is already burdensome...

I was expecting really great things out of this. Those of you who have read Birds of Prey #16 and Robin #85 know Chuck Dixon can write a great Joker story. But this just sucked.

Issues 1, 2, and 3 were awful, I just hated them. So incredibly pointless. But I had preordered them, and since I go to a smaller shop that doesn't carry a ton of stuff, I had to get them.

But with issue 4, and especially issue 5, things really started to go better. It developed a PLOT. The doctor pencilling in the tumor was great, and thing took off from there. Then with Huntress breaking in in issue 5, and the "death" of Robin, things really heated up.

And spiraled down even quicker in issue 6. I wanted to see the Joker killed, I think it was time someone did the dirty deed. I really hated Nightwing's "Oh, crap, I killed him, but Huntress here saved him so I'm gonna go crawl into a cave for awhile. Issue six was just amazing right up until the Joker came back, which ruined the whole issue.

One other complaint. Robin #95, which tied in pretty heavily with Last Laught, was a big disappointment. Let me give my prime example. Batman, Huntress, and Spoiler are walking through the sewer where Killer Croc "killed" Robin. Spoiler says, "But where's Robin?" Batman points to Robin's tattered costume and some bones (we never did find out whose bones those are), and says "I think the answer's clear." He doesn't mope. He doesn't brood. He's just his same old batty self (and yes, he does think Robin's truly dead because he tries to comfort Spoiler). He got more broken up over Jason.

    Last Laugh Issues

I was a little suprised at how poor this storyline was .

Im even more dismayed that this is Chuck Dixons
    last major storyline.

Hes leaving DC and its gonna be a major loss as
Dixon is the heart and soul of the Batman Universe.

Will the Robin and Birds of Prey series survive w-out him?
I hope so .. but I fear the worst.

Im even more pissed off cause Dixon was starting an
underground campaign to bring back BLUE BEETLE into
the DC universe by making him part of Batmans Troops.

Now I fear BEETLE will never return.

Shame on Dixon for teasing his appearance in Last Laugh
    and not even using him.

Please Please DC give BB a series.
BB written by Kevin Smith or Mark Waid would be
    awesome.

    JOKER QUESTIONS

I do have a couple questions about issue six.

    First -

Joker knows NightWing was the first Robin?

Was this the first time they implied he did , because
Ive never seen any mention of it.

I dont think thats supposed to be common knowledge,
I think even Gordon didnt know that.

    Second -

He know Robin 2's name was Jason ?
I guess he might have overheard it once -
    but thats seemed surprising.

Are these new revelations ..or did I miss a comic
    one month?

    -Mr. Mxyzptlk, EMPEROR JOKER #1

And that's just it. The Joker is not stupid by any means, he's a brilliant criminal mastermind under the insanity. As far as I know, he just eventually made the connection about Mr. Grayson. As for Jason, ever read "A Death in the Family"? In that, the Joker kidnaps Jason Todd's real mother, at which point Jason (as Robin) races in to save her, and I think makes it pretty clear that they're related. At that point Joker beats Robin and blows him up. So I think with that information, the Joker could find it out.

If he figured out who Robin was though, wouldn't he be able to figure out who Batman was? Maybe he somehow figured out Robin's first name only.
