    Samuri Jack-Wow

    Like This Thread!
I hope this place is OK to discuss this...

I've seen 3 episodes of Samuri Jack so far...and man...all I gotta say is:

    WOW

The animation is anime-ish and man..it just kicks. I know this is like old news, but Samuri Jack is GREAT..

I thought it would be a serious show, sorta like Batman, but, with talking dogs, and humour..it's destined to be a classic..in my book anyway.

Anyword on the DVDs? cuz if the DVD's of Samuri Jack have been delayed, then dangit.I've had to many let-downs in the DVD front lately..

Last I heard about the DVDs, the pilot episode is a for sure release, and I guess they are still trying to decide if they will do full season sets or put them out randomly like the PPG DVDs

Well I'm glad you like Samurai Jack. I have actually spoke with people who didn't like it because there wasn't enough talking. LOL. I said they make up for any silence 10 fold.

Saw SJ for the first time last night

I really like the visuals, and the spare use of dialogue; this is one that I will definitely be watching.

I'll need to get acclimated to the way it combines its serious story with old-style cartoon humor. In last night's Ep IV (I think it was, with the Woolies), I was real surprised to see the old "stick 'em with something sharp and make them rocket thru the air" gag show up.

You just tell those people who say there isn't enough talking that an animated cartoon does not have to be bogged down in dialogue (like the vast majority of A3 cartoons these days. A3=Animated
Action Adventure, FYI). I watched "Episode VII" last night on tape and drank in the beautiful autumnal settings in the opening scenes (sharp contrast with the oncoming war machines).

Trust me, the people that he mentioned are pretty stubborn.

A deaf girl came up to Chuck Jones and told him that she was happy that she could enjoy his cartoons, unlike other ones that relied on dialogue jokes. That was the aim of Chuck Jones and other "Golden Age" animators: to use the medium to tell the story rather than the dialogue. Genndy Tartakovsky is my #1 choice for the next Chuck Jones.

In my opinion John Krisfaluci is the my #1 choice for the next Bob Clampett. Think about it.
Bob Clampett had quit Warner for his own studio.
John K. quit Nick for his own online web studio www.spumco.com

    Clampett rules!

Mr. Worth on the WBAnimation ng wil be glad you said that. He's an exec @ Spumco, as well as one of the residents of that ng. You don't have to agree with him for him to answer your questions about cartoon history, & I know whereof I speak. In case you're interested you might check out Spumco's latest tv project, The Ripping Friends, airing Saturday mornings on Fox. Not my kind of thing, but that's alright.

    new Samuri Jack TOONight?

Hi! This is my first post! Is there going to be a new Samuri Jack episode tonight? The last 5 or so have been reruns. It says on the online Cartoon Network schedule that it's episode V, have they shown that one yet?

Hello, Duncanzits, & welcome to the Cartoon Cartoons board & to toonzone. As to your question, as I don't have that information I will leave that to the experts. Fellas? Once again, duncanzits, welcome.

Thanks for the warm welcome! If you couldn't tell my username is based off the comic strip:Zits by Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman. The main character is Jeremy Duncan.

I figured that out. I still say it's a reincarnation, brought up a few years, of Calvin & Hobbes. Only Hobbes is lying in the attic, forgotten.

The simularities are plenty. Jim Borgman went to school with Bill Watterson. Both Jeremy and Hecter crash the car a la Calvin & Hobbes. Even a Zits strip makes a joke about C & H! I thought it would have been a better animated series than Baby Blues.

"Episode V" has been shown already, but it's my favorite of all the "Jack" episodes they've shown so far. The climax alone
(Jack sacrificing yet another chance to return to the past to save
the escaping scientists from being blasted to smithereens by the Waspbots' ray-gun) is worth watching again.

If you click "View All Episodes" next time you access Cartoon Network.com, you'll see that the next new episode (IhopeIhope
Ihope) will be "Episode VIII" on or around October 29 (In which
Jack must battle the nasty cold he caught while running around in his skivvies on that snow-covered island in "Episode VII"--just kidding!)

"The best episode of any show is the one that lives in your imagination."

I didn't watch all of tonight's episode because of Big Thinkers, but I thought they showed a new one with a cat hunter (has he been on a cartoon cartoon before?). I saw the one where the scientists escape before and I think you are right, PeppeRaskell1. Tonight's eppy looked awesome and I HAVE to watch it Sunday, but it might not have been V. Did anyone see what Roman numeral was in the credits?

I want to know that, too. It sounds like a new episode, it sounds like they didn't air "Episode V," and it sounds like I'll have to tape
the show this Friday night (or Sunday!)

I guess i wasn't the only one that missed it.
Like I said on World's Finest, TechTV aired a special about Dilbert creater Scott Adams at the same time. I watched that instead of SJ, but what I saw during commercials was Samurai Jack battle a bunch of robot centipedes as well as his evil twin. Could anyone who saw this epp give us more info?

Dadgummit, the one Monday night I didn't watch SJ, and they show a new episode!! Oh well, good thing they show it on Fridays and Sundays too, so all is not lost...

BTW, it's a little late, but welcome to Toon Zone, duncanzits! I think you're going to fit in just fine here!

heeheehee... I was wondering about that myself! (how he kept from freezing to death during and after his mizugori... well, it's a legend, right? Not everything's gotta be explained...

The episode in the snow looked really cool (and also really cold ). Unfortunately, I came into it halfway thru the first time it aired and saw only the last part. When it came time for the repeat I was late getting home, and when I turned it on it was at exactly the same spot where I'd turned it on before. Airgh!!!

Still, tremendously stylish stuff in what I saw.

I haven't had a chance to watch too many episodes of this show but my favorite is from the pliot, when Jack confronts those Black Bug things, and at one point he sees one of them, trying to get away and he says something like" No! There is no escape!"
And you could just see the somewhat insanity flowing from him, during the battle and that moment.

Jack is a Warrior like none other, period.

I love this show and I like it's theme song too!

    Call me Kane.
