Oh...I so much wanted to discuss this series...so I'm going to *bump* it up just a smidge...I promise I'll let it die after a few days if there is no interest!
Cheers
To preface...I'd just like to say that I'm relieved that there is a General Messages forum here...now I can post weird topics like this without feeling too sheepish! Which leads me to my question:
Does anyone have as much affection for "Challenge of the Superfriends" as I do?
I loved this show...I've seen them all and I thought this formula worked well...having the 13 villains and 11 heros squaring off in various situations each week always kept me glued to the screen! This was back in 78' I think...I was about 10 yrs. I wish they would have ran it for more than 15 episodes...
The idea of a secret cabal of villains with varying strengths, powers and personalities forming to destroy the Superfriends was just a totally inspired idea IMO...To this day I wish they could have developed some of the characters more (on both sides) and I firmly believe that this could be a very highly profitable movie franchise is anyone were to ever create it...they could have inter-changing villains and heroes and the whole "group dynamic" would sell (IMO) because then you are not stuck with just one or two or three central characters that might or might not be appealing to the audience. There would surely be something for everyone...
Gotta love the LOD!! I always root for the villains btw...they are more fun!
Sorry if this topic has been addressed already...I couldn't resist when I found this forum!
For those unfamiliar with the show...here are the full rosters of heroes and villains from Challenge of the Superfriends:
Heroes-
Superman
Batman
Robin
Aquaman
Flash
Wonder Woman
Hawkman
Black Vulcan
Samurai*
Green Lantern
Apache Chief*
*These two were created for the series I believe...to add different ethnicities to the heroes.
Legion of Doom members:
Lex Luthor (Superman villain)
Brainiac ("")
Bizarro ("")
Toyman ("")
Cheetah (Wonder Woman villaness)
Sinestro (Green Lantern villain)
Riddler (Batman villain)
Scarecrow ("")
Gorilla Grodd (Flash villain)
Captain Cold ("")
Black Manta (Aquaman villain)
Soloman Grundy (all around villain I guess...not sure of his origin)
Giganta (Apache Chief villainess...this version was created for the series as I believe Giganta was an ape-woman type villainess of Wonder Woman's years ago)
Any other fans out there?

Sorry, I never got to see the series myself! Now you know how I feel...nobody responded to my idea about an MTV own animation channel! I guess not everything is a winner on this board!Originally posted by Agatha

Give it time. Some threads will get only minimal replies, others get tonnes. Be patient...

Hey Agatha--
I wanted to say "Welcome Back" over at the BB board (the poll thread) but thought better of it-- glad to see you again, and I'll help you bump this thread along too![]()
Yeah, I remember CotSF. I liked it when I was kid, but was too embarrassed to watch it much. Then I grew up and decided I didn't care what people thought. I get a thrill when CN uses the characters in their promos.
BTW, could you (could anyone?) understand a word that Black Manta said?
I have seen Challenge of the Super Friends, and it was pretty cool for a cartoon of its time. The best thing about it was all different villains. Although normally I don't like older cartoons this one was pretty good.![]()
i've never seen the show myself, but it sounds like the cartoons that would make me laugh hysterically for no reason at all.
I thought everyone has seen the Challange of the Super Friends!! Of course, I thought it was a little weird, and I'm pretty indifferent to it, but it was okay for it's time.

Yeah...I really loved this show...and I anxiously await my new LOD avatar! That's what reminded me of this thread!

Agatha, if you like Superfriends, you should check out seanbaby.com. I've posted it before, but don't know if you saw it. Check out his Superfriends page. It's hilarious. Oh, and there's a little cussing.

I have that site bookmarked...it is rather funny! I haven't been in awhile...maybe I'll go in now...I still have time to kill this afternoon!
Also...I think you should share links as often as you like...it is very neighborly you know!
There IS one place that I've lost track of...it was another Superfriends site that had the pics of some of the heroes and villains and the "bios" were to come but they never did (At least the last time I looked!)...they had all the Legion of Doom members plus Darkseid, Kalibak etc from Apokolips. Familiar with that one?
Thanks
It was quite awhile ago...like back in 96'- 97' that it was put up...and then it wasnt updated for many moons afterward...so I'm likely not going to find it.
